Sports reviews of Schwinn 20-Function Bike Computer

Customer Review: It's Only Cheap in Price
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I purchased the Schwinn 17-Function Bike Computer three seasons ago. Many reviewers complain that it is difficult to install and I remember I had no difficulty but I did take the time to read the instructions (ok, maybe the instructions do leave a little to be desired) and I have installed them previously. The calorie function is pretty close to my Polar HRM. I had another bike computer on my bike that someone helped themself to so I picked this up for 7.95 just as a replacement until I could order a "better" one. It doesn't die and I'm still using it. I agree some of the functions are more for marketing but I'm sure someone uses them. I ride a little over a 100 miles a week and it has never failed me. It is pretty accurate because it matches the mile markers on the bike path that I ride on. My only complaint is I wish it was wireless but I imagine if it was Amazon wouldn't be selling it for their price. There are definately better computers on the market but for the price you can't go wrong. Just follow the directions.

Customer Review: Great product and better price
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I purchased this computer as a replacement for another computer my girlfriend brought for me. I had a "specialized" computer which was great but it fell off the clip as I was riding.

This computer was very easy to install and the sensor never or the computer never malfunctioned. This one also has a special little notch on top of the holder, so I'm not worried about the computer falling off the clip like my last one.

I don't really use the computer other than for tracking distance (most important to me) and speed. The other functions are nifty but not sure how accurate they are. The speed and distance function, however, are accurate.

I read somewhere that someone had inaccurate readings, this may have been due to incorrect tire settings.

All in all, I am extremely satisfied with this product. I plan on buying two more: one for my girlfriend's bike and one for my indoor training bike.

Customer Review: Useful? yes... Complicated? sorta...
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Schwinn's 17-function Bike Computer is an all around useful tool, from telling you how far you have ridden to telling the temperature. Yeah, so what, but it's basically the same thing like the expensive computers out there. Is it really much of a difference? No, but price wise will leave you a happy camper! Setting up the system is a breeze but when you want to reset your information you'd have to start all over again by resetting everything (maybe it's just me because I didn't see any other instruction in the manuel). The system has a back light and is sometimes tricky to turn it on... while in a function and you attempt to turn on the light, you're actually adjusting something in the function. Despite its complexity, the bike computer serves it's purpose rendering it a very useful tool along the road. Like I said, once you buy it you'll be a happy camper!

Customer Review: Wheel factor
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Great Bike computer, works great, so cheap I bought two of them, wires don't look that messy, don't need an expensive wireless one, you can use clear tape to join the wire with brake wires.

Since everyone will need wheel factor, this is what I found from Trek's websites:

Wheel/Tire Size CIRCUMFERENCE in mm(Wheel Factor)
16" 1300
20" X 1.75" 1600
24" X 1.95" 1920
26" X 1" 1950
650 X 20C 1945
650 X 23C 1990
26" X 1.5" 2030
26" X 1.9" 2055
26" X 2.0" 2074
26" X 2.2" 2100
700 X 20C 2074
700 X 23C 2085
700 X 25C 2100
700 X 28C 2135
700 X 32C 2155
700 X 35C 2175
700 X 38C 2180
700 X 40C 2190
700 X 1-1/4" 2160

Customer Review: FIVE STARS without a doubt!!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Bang for buck..this cyclometer cannot be beat! For $10 you have a small, easily mounted device that tells you all you need to know. But, let's face it..a running MPH is what all cyclists care about as they ride. This thing does it all as well...odometer, temperature..sure..stuff no one really needs in the real world, even has a back light for night riding. What more could you need? You might have to "fiddle" with the spoke sensor to get a good pickup..but they are all that way. However, once you have adjusted your spoke sensor, it stays true no matter how many bumps and jumps you do. It's a cool little machine that is WAY worth the money...I can't imagine anyone paying $30-50 for anything else..wasted cash. Buy one of these things before Schwinn figures out how good they are and jacks up the price! Good riding!
