It doesn't matter how much you paid for your bike you want to be sure it doesn't fall off your trunk rack when driving down the highway. The Saris Bike Beam is very solid, well made, with a smooth open/close-locking function with an easy to use button on each end and the beam telescopes smoothly to adjust to the correct size. We have used it on several long trips to hold my wife;s Schwinn cruiser, not a light bike, and it has done great. We also use it to hold my wife's bike on the wall mounted rack in the garage. Simple design, very well made.

Attaches from the seat post to the stem of the bike creating the standard top tube of a men's style frame. Ideal for unique, women's and juvenile small frame and bikes with oversized tubes. You know the victorious photos of the lone mountain biker, having conquered the peak, raising his bike over his head in triumph? Ever wonder why you don't see more people lifting non- traditional frames? Well there is no place to grab them, if they had the Bike Beam, which connects the seatposts and handlebars to simulate the standard top tube, they'd have an easy hand hold. (A convenient bonus: the beam also makes it easy to carry non-traditional, non-diamond, frames on our B.A.T.and bones racks.)If you have a non-traditional bike frame--such as a full-suspension or a women's bike with slanting frame--the Saris Bike Beam will help you transport the bike using your trunk or hitch-mounted rack. It attaches from the seat post to the handlebar area of the bike to create a level beam that can be easily stored on a rack.
