This light can be set to constantly on or flashing mode. While visually appealing and simple to use, this light really isn't adequate for biking at night. I have the red, rear light. The light is not nearly bright enough to be adequately seen from any meaningful distance. I set it up in my living room and went to the other side of the house, about 25' away, and while I could easily see the light it wasn't all that bright or intense. On a rainy night, when you especially need a strong light, I would guess this light would be virtually undetectable from 100'.
