Sports reviews of SIGMA BC906 9-Function Topline Wired Bicycle SpeedometerCustomer Review: Great little unit Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is a great unit for someone who just wants something that works. It isn't fancy, but it will keep track of your trip time, average speed, top speed, total distance traveled, total time, and a few other nice functions for a very good price. I ride a SEC Giant Mountain Bike and just wanted something to keep track a little better of what I was doing on the trails. Install was easy, setup was easy, and it's been going strong ever since.
Only words of caution on the unit are regarding the ties/bands that they include: if you have larger forks, keep an eye on them because my bands broke after the first day and the ties couldn't even fit around the forks, so make sure whatever you use to replace them is reliable (I just used rubber bands and some larger ties just to make sure the reader wasn't going anywhere, works great so far).
Customer Review: very nice and easy to install Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I bought this because it was cheap in price and had all the functions I wanted. It does all that I expected. If you can program a digital watch you can set this computer up. The set up was easy and once set up you just have to remember to press the top right button to reset whatever function you are on. The bottom button is to change the function you want to access such as trip time, av speed, fastest speed, etc.. Putting the magnet on the wheel was easy and installing the computer on the bike was really easy. The only problem was their list of inches to enter for the wheel size- so that you could set up the computer. For a 700x23 wheel the wheel inches they had on their list was erroneous and it was actually for a 700x28 wheel! I used the old method of tape measure on the floor while moving the wheel forward to measure the wheel size.
Customer Review: Excellent basic wired cyclocomputer Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
The BC906 replaced three cheapy Chinese-made cyclocomputers. Two lasted a year and the most recent I gave up on after 3 weeks. I then decided to buy a quality wired cyclocomputer - and the BC906 fitted the bill. I chose wired because I found wireless was affected by my flashing LED headlamp - the flashes were interpreted as speed when the two were adjacent.
I'm very pleased with the BC906 - it's accurate, easy to fit (no tools required), and highly legible. It's easy to set-up although the pictogram-based instruction book is not particularly easy to follow and could be better.
It doesn't have a backlight or ambient temperature - nice-to-have but not essential features. I chose it over a similarly featured and priced Cateye because the BC906 had a larger, clearer display.
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: BEST ON THE MARKET! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have tried a variety of bicycle speedometers and Sigma is the best by far. Instaltion is not a problem if you follow the directions or have prior experience installing other bike speedometers. The display is large, clear, and flawless. The power cord from the speedometer to the wheel area is larger than the Bell's and less prone to breakage. What I like most about the Sigma is its accuracy. I would recommend that you use the wheel size instructions in the directions booklet as a starting point and then check your settings over a known distance. You can then tweak your numbers for the extreme accuracy you desire. The best thing I can say about this unit is that it is quality at a reasonable price!
Customer Review: Sigma BC906 Bike Computer/Speedometer Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have owned several brands of bike speedometers. This is the best I have owned. It has sufficient functions, yet is not overly fussy and elaborate as many are. The biggest plus is the number displays are simple, uncluttered, large and easy to read. Installation is about as complicated and difficult as any of the others, (in other words, a royal pain in the neck). I would definitely buy this product again. My only reservation is that when idle, the unit displays the time. Not sure if this tiny use of the battery is significant or not, but a 5-minute blank display would be nice.
