Description of Ripstik Caster BoardThe new Ripstick combines all the fun and excitement of surfing and snowboarding and puts it on wheels. Inspired by the classic shape and design of a skateboard, the Ripstick looks like something out of the future. Instead of the traditional four-wheel skateboard, this amazing board can make smooth, quick 360-degree turns on just two wheels. Just stand on the sturdy traction plates and subtle movements propel the Ripstick even up a hill! The front and rear flexible panels are controlled by a spring-oriented bar located on the top of the wheels. The rugged polyurethane wheels are 77mm/85A with ABEC-5 bearings. Separating the two traction plates is a padded rubber carrying handle. Measures 33.5" long x 10" wide. Weighs 8 lbs. Wear helmet and pads for safety. 90-day warranty. Best described as a cross between a skateboard and a snowboard, the Ripstik caster board is the perfect ride for kids looking for the next big thrill. The board is distinguished by its pivoting deck and 360-degree inclined caster trucks, which offer a snowboard-like carving ability. A simple weight transfer lets you turn or accelerate without pushing, just like when you're carving down the slopes.
The Ripstik's unique twisting motion moves you forward with out ever pushing off the ground. | The board offers such features as spiked traction pads, a kick tail and nose, and a concave deck design, which combine to improve your foot control--a must for tricks. And thanks to the 76mm polyurethane wheels and precision ABEC-5 bearing casters, skaters will enjoy a smooth ride on almost any type of pavement. Sports reviews of Ripstik Caster BoardCustomer Review: Probably the best toy ever made! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I really think this is the best toy for your money. I know it's pretty expensive, buy believe me it will be worth the money. It took me an hour, but now I can ride like a pro. It's much better than a skateboard because you don't have to push and you can make really sharp turns. It takes a while to learn how to turn, buy it's so fun once you learn it. Once I got it, my friends wanted to ride it. Two of them learned how to ride it and now they ride it more than I do! One of them already got one of his own and the other one is about to get one. If you're deciding whether or not to buy a ripstik, BUY IT!
Customer Review: Go Figure Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I bought this for myself to play with (I'm 35) and after all the presents were opened and toys, video games, and everything were forgotten (about 4 hours after Christmas), this was the ongoing favorite of the season. Everybody, younger (down to 8) and older (to 45) had a blast with this thing after a couple minutes coaching. It's already on everybodys wish lists for upcoming birthdays and such. This is a GREAT present for 11-18 boy. Fair warning though, there will be some good spills on the fairly short, steep learning curve - helmets, knee pads, blah, blah, are a must (and a video camera!)
Customer Review: PURE FUN Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This amazing board is not just for kids. My friends and I, all of whom are over 20, just opened this up today and haven't put it down since! As avid snowboarders, we are always looking for ways to emulate snowboarding in the warmer months, and we have definitely found it with the Ripstik. Although it does take a little getting used to, it is extremely fun to ride, and makes you feel like you're floating. The carving and steering motions are exactly like snowboarding. This product is worth every pennie. I strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone!
Customer Review: Great Christmas Gift for 12 yr old boy Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
We got this for our 12 yr old son. He never used a skateboard but was competant with roller blades. He loves it. I helped him balance the first 15 minutes and by 30 minutes he was navigating our street well and starting to get the hang of the motion to propel himself forward. There were a few spills and a helmet is a must have item. Can't say I would recommend for much younger or for those with no prior experience on roller blades or skateboards as this adds another level of complexity.
Customer Review: Equally fun for ages 6 to 45 Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I ended up buying 3 of them since my two sons wanted their owns, and would not let me ride theirs! My older son and myself are snowboarders, and found the snowbarding skills can be easily applied here when riding downhill. It took us some time to figure out how to move uphill. Now we can pretty much go anywhere at amazing speed. My younger son had a little hard time, but now he can follow us quite closely. I am pretty sure that it would help his snowboarding.
