Description of Ripstik Caster Board

The new Ripstick combines all the fun and excitement of surfing and snowboarding and puts it on wheels. Inspired by the classic shape and design of a skateboard, the Ripstick looks like something out of the future. Instead of the traditional four-wheel skateboard, this amazing board can make smooth, quick 360-degree turns on just two wheels. Just stand on the sturdy traction plates and subtle movements propel the Ripstick even up a hill! The front and rear flexible panels are controlled by a spring-oriented bar located on the top of the wheels. The rugged polyurethane wheels are 77mm/85A with ABEC-5 bearings. Separating the two traction plates is a padded rubber carrying handle. Measures 33.5" long x 10" wide. Weighs 8 lbs. Wear helmet and pads for safety. 90-day warranty.
Best described as a cross between a skateboard and a snowboard, the Ripstik caster board is the perfect ride for kids looking for the next big thrill. The board is distinguished by its pivoting deck and 360-degree inclined caster trucks, which offer a snowboard-like carving ability. A simple weight transfer lets you turn or accelerate without pushing, just like when you're carving down the slopes.

The Ripstik's unique twisting motion moves you forward with out ever pushing off the ground.
The board offers such features as spiked traction pads, a kick tail and nose, and a concave deck design, which combine to improve your foot control--a must for tricks. And thanks to the 76mm polyurethane wheels and precision ABEC-5 bearing casters, skaters will enjoy a smooth ride on almost any type of pavement. Designed for children 8 years and up, the Ripstik's plastic end platforms and metal torsion beam support up to 220 pounds.

Sports reviews of Ripstik Caster Board

Customer Review: Ripstick was roarin success
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Got this board to reward my son for a great school year. Got it open and he had to hang on to my arm to stay on it- for the first 30 minutes. Then he worked with it for an hour or two- and now three days later he rides it like a pro! HE LOVES IT! Says it is the best gift he has gotten in the last few years. It is teaching him balance, how to control it thru body motion- and now he wants to learn how to ski board and wave board! This product is much better than the Wave- has a rubber layer over the center bar, is not as loose in the torque, and has a smooth ride. Note the ad copy says it comes with an How To DVD- it does not. Great gift- and within two days ALL of the kids in the neighborhood had ordered it from Amazon! We should get a commission!

Customer Review: Let me help!

First, you must start with your dominant foot forward. Next, take a leap of faith and give yourself a good push. It is like a motorcycle, once you get going, the two wheel thing doesn't matter. Third, it helps to have someone walk along side of you until you can go down a small hill by yourself. As you do this you begin to do little turns naturally with your feet. To turn, you need to tilt your feet in opposite directions. This takes practice. Our 8 year old picked it up in a day with help!!! Our six year old can go down a little hill with very little help in one day. My wife is 38 and is not athletic. She picked it up in one day. Last, get the right one. They make small ones for kids.

Customer Review: From a college student...
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Speaking as a twenty-one year old college student I can confidently say that the Ripstik is one of the best purchases I have made in the recent past. It makes getting around campus exponentially easier. Sure, lots of people ride skateboards/long boards around here, but with the Ripstick one can propel oneself UPHILL. This makes it a breeze to get to classes/lunch/meetings/whatever (and invokes some serious jealousy from the 'pure boarders' out there. And yes, it's very fun to ride. The first day I got it I spent well over five hours riding around the neighborhood and campus (this with ABSOLUTELY NO SKATEBOARDING EXPERIENCE!). This is a heck of a lot easier than it looks, I promise. Have fun! :)

Customer Review: GOOD fun for kids
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

My son really wanted this for his 9th birthday, so he got one. Because his 10-year-old cousin already had one, I guess he had an idea of how to ride it, so it took only 5-10 minutes for my son to be standing & sliding (slowly) on the thing for 10 seconds or so. He just wants to go out and practice everyday now. Like some people mentioned, I do agree that there is a risk of broken bones, and I am concerned. But, hey, they are boys. They may break a bone without a ripstik anyway!! I am a type of person who don't buy DS or Wii to my sons (who are begging for one, of course), so I am very happy to see my son playing outside using his body and developing some athletic skills.

Customer Review: Wow.
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Hi I'm 12 years old. This summer I was at my beach house, and I saw my cousins ripstik in a shed. I'd heard of the ripstik, but I thought it would be impossible to learn. But I was bored, so I picked it up and tried it. At first I stunk. really. But over two days I practiced. Within two days I got good enough to ride it to town. I HAD to have it. I couldn't take it and I ran to walmart and bought it. It's been one of my best product choices. I still love it, it's easy to learn and you should should just buy it now.

If your still reading you haven't bought it yet.

BUY IT!!!!

I'm waiting...

see ya on the streets!
