Customer Review: A must for cyclists in traffic

I know I might look a little funny, but it's also a strong statement to be wearing this mask while cycling on busy roads - "YES, those cars are emitting toxic fumes, I decided I had enough of breathing them in." The mask seems to filter quite well, I don't smell any exhaust when wearing it except for maybe a little that might be coming in from the top or bottom when riding through really heavy truck traffic. I'd say it's 90% effective - pretty good as opposed to directly inhaling all that crap.
I did have to put a little tape on the bottom, as there was a small opening there under my chin, no biggie. It's not a custom fit, but you can't really expect one either. It does feel like it pulls down on my nose, but no biggie. If traffic is light, I usually just wear it around my neck, then easily put it on when I enter an area of exhuast (the path of an accelerating, hill climbing car, or large vehicle). Until everyone on the road is driving a Leaf, this is great protection. I still recommend using the lowest traveled roads when possible, since nothing is 100% protection.

My whole family uses these masks for off road ATV riding while visiting the sand dunes and other dusty desert locations. This environment has to be the "worst case scenario" for ANY type of filtration mask. My evaluation is: THIS MASK WORKS, PERIOD.
The Velcro strap is a very convenient way to keep the mask where it belongs. Two of the best features are the "one way valve" that allows exhaled air out with minimal restriction and the great filtration of the filter media. Also, the sturdy construction of the mask helps when you are physically exerting yourself (Motorcycle/ATV riding, etc.); when soaked with sweat it still holds it shape and conforms to your face. Based on this characteristic, it would be great for joggers.
I would say that this mask is at least 10 times better than the el cheapo white paper with elastic band. They are a little pricy, but what the heck, you get what you pay for.

Absolutely a fantastic product. Only complaint is that the ORDER page allows you to select the size....and when calling the CSR's as to why I was sent a Large when I ordered a Medium was that I selected Lg. THAT is frustrating...no selection (order page NEEDS to be cleared of this error.)
I did work out the small "misfitting" of my mask. I have asthma and went to Burning Man '07 for the first time. Very concerned about the playa dust. After the first white out I no longer had ANY fear for my breathing!
I came home tired and dusty and breathing well! Thank you for the product!
I know several people that purchased the face mask and all loved them.

Using this mask while cutting a lot of marble on a wet saw. It let's me breathe naturally but filters out all of the dust. It fits close to my nose so it doesn't cause my safety glasses to fog up. A really good buy.Customer Review: awesome

this face mask is top shelf awesome, built very well and the uses for me are endless. I bought this for when I ride my motorcycle but it will also work really well when I ride the mower to cut the grass. good buy
