If you fence competitively, you've run into equipment failures on the strip. I know I have.

On one reading of the foil section, I had increased my understanding of how to handle these things by 100%. The information is laid out directly and simply, accompanied by easy to understand illustrations.

Every fencer should have a copy of this booklet.

Description of Repair Manual by Rudy Volkmann

Rudy Volkmann has written an excellent manual that all fencers should keep in their fencing bags. Electrical Fencing Equipment: How It Works, What Goes Wrong, How To Fix It is concise and well written, and should be required reading for anyone applying for competitions license. As Rudy writes, Someday some one will hold a meet at which there are absolutely no problems with any of the electrical equipment. I suspect that the news of this event will be buried back on page eleven of the newspapers, however, with the first ten pages taken by the news that Hell has frozen over. This is the Third addition
