Description of Razor A Kick Scooter

The original kick scooter, the Razor A is a handy little ride for kids and teens alike. Though it'll never replace the internal combustion engine, the scooter will get your child from point A to point B much quicker than on foot alone, and requires just a few scoots of one's shoes in the process. Plus, it's a blast to use, as your progeny will likely attest.

The Razor A is built of aircraft-grade aluminum, a sturdy material that holds up to use and abuse through the years. Its T-tube and deck, meanwhile, fold up into a compact footprint, so riders can fit the scooter inside a bag or carry it at their side when riding isn't appropriate (it weighs around 6 pounds). And thanks to the 98mm inline-style urethane wheels, ABEC 5 bearings, and patented rear fender brake, riders will always feel smooth and in control when kicking along the sidewalk.

Recommended for ages 5 and older, the Razor A will support a rider up to 143 pounds. It's also backed by a six-month warranty. For the next step up, try the Razor A2 Scooter.

When you're done riding, the Razor A folds down to a nicely compact size.

Sports reviews of Razor A Kick Scooter

Customer Review: We have 4 of them!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

We got a Razor A Scooter from Grandma that was kept outdoors for several years and used occasionally by visiting grandchildren. The Scooter still rode as smoothe as silk after all those years. So smoothe that I allowed my 4 kids (ages 4-12) to ride it in my house on the wood floors. I got tired of them constantly fighting over the scooter, so I broke down and ordered 3 more... each in a different color. That definitely solved the fighting problem. Now I ask for a turn haha. I need to order one for me :) My ONLY complaint is the metal clamp on one of the scooters fell apart (in about 5 pieces) the second day we had it. I put it back together, but it's still loose. We can't adjust the scooter highth on that one either. Other than that, it still works fine, and the highth seems to work for everyone. I recommend these scooters.

Customer Review: Superb
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

We have three of these, one for each kid. They have been well used by all three children and have held up well to the use. They fold down to a very slim size that fits well under our seats or in our trunk. We have had them for some time and the children are able to fold them up and open them up without extra help from mom and dad (always a plus).

The one negative that I have found is that if you get the lever that is used to lock the scooter open (or closed) at all dirty it will jam and not open or shut very easily. A quick clean will fix this, but it is something to watch for.

A small adult can easily use this with no difficulties. If you are a heavier adult or tall, you might want to look for a sturdier scooter meant to hold adults.

Well worth the money.
Enjoy.

Customer Review: perfect for the age!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I got this for my 4 1/2 yr old son. It was easy for HIM to open and once we showed him how to unfold it he had no problems doing it himself. It folds nicely and the handles even fold in, it's stayed folded when not in use (which isn't very often). He LOVES this scooter! I wouldn't recommend it for a very large person, but my 7 1/2 yr old daughter has the same one (in pink of course) and it works very well for her. You won't find mommy and daddy out riding it (just out back where we can't be seen!), but again for the age we got them for they are perfect. Easy to operate, and seem sturdy enough for a 10 yr old. The foot area is smaller which makes it even better for younger kids. The price is great too! My kids had to buy their own with their allowance :)

Customer Review: still a good idea
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Since the Razor originally came out, there have been many other types of scooters competing for our attention: 3-wheel, 4-wheel, and larger wheel scooters -can- fairly be called improvements, but the Razor is still all that most of us need, for short trips a bit faster than walking. Sure, you can't fit two feet side by side on it, it doesn't have suspension of any kind, and the small wheels get hung up on sidewalk seams, but it gets you where you're going three times as fast, (it really -does- roll smoothly), it's -very- compact, and -very- inexpensive. Unless you plan on spending -many- hours a week on your scooter,(in which case a couple hundred dollars may be a fair expense for the big-wheel advantages), I recommend a Razor .

Customer Review: Built like a tank
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This is my first scooter purchase for my oldest daughter (age 6 1/2). This scooter is built like a tank! The scooter folds into a very small footprint and is easily assembled via lever. The welds appear and feel solid and the material used is clearly first grade. This scooter can easily be handed down (might need wheel replacements from normal use).

It is somewhat refreshing to see a well made product in this category. I have seen many of the neighbors children using other brand scooters and they simply do not compare. I will warn you though, this scooter is not as light (in weight) as you would think. I was a little surprised. However, the grade of material used clearly contributes to the weight.
