Description of Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter and Belt Set (Medium-XX-Large)Polar chest strap and transmitters sold as a set. Coded transmitter works with current models except CS600 and RS800 but only eliminates interference (cross-talk) when used with a coded wrist or head unit. User replaceable battery. Antibacterial fabric. Easy-to-use side opening hook. Front transmitter connection. Fits 27-Inch to 60-Inch. The Polar WearLink transmitter combines superior Polar technology with a new fabric design. The electrodes, which pick up the heart's signals, are engineered right into the fabric strap. The result is a superior fit for any individual body shape, providing revolutionary comfort and full freedom of movement. The transmitter's textile strap is removable and machine washable. Its clip-on mechanism ensures quick and easy wear, and the belt is easy to put on and take off. Polar's coded technology ensures that the user picks up only their heart signal, and not the signal of another heart rate monitor nearby. With millions of HRMs in use today, there's a good chance that someone working out next to you may also have one on. Interference from any other HRM is now eliminated and an accurate signal is ensured. About Polar The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.
Sports reviews of Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter and Belt Set (Medium-XX-Large)Customer Review: A lot More Comfortable and Less Expensive in the Long Run Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
One big improvement from the original transmitters (T31 or T61 transmitters) is that with this model (the Wearlink) you only have to buy a new battery and replace it once they ran out and your transmitter is ready to use again. With the original ones you have to buy a new transmitter every time the battery dies, since the whole structure is sealed. So if your Polar wrist watch came with the T31 or T61, wait until the battery is finished and buy the Wearlink transmitter instead, you will save a lot of money over the years (compare the 39.95 US$ that the T31 or T61 cost vs the cost of a replacement battery).
The other big advantage is that the Wearlink transmitter is more confortable to wear, since it adapts better to the shape of your body since even the electrodes are flexible and are embedded in the fabric. Being flexible and all makes it easier to storage it your pocket when your finish training or if you are traveling.
In summary a great product for your Polar HRM, and a smart improvement if it is time to replace your old transmitter. Don't buy another T31 or T61, buy this one instead.
I run with my Polar six days a week, and probably train about ten hour a week with it. I used to have the T31 with my first Polar (the M61) so I can tell you first hand the Wearlink is far better. In summary more confortable, easier to wash, and a money saver. I was more than happy to trow the old one away after I bought this one.
Customer Review: Comfortable, easy to use and maintain Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've used both the older plastic and the newer fabric Wearlink transmitters. I much prefer the new Wearlink model. I've used my Wearlink transmitter for 1.5 years with absolutely no problems. I wash the fabric strap in the washing machine (delicate cycle) occassionally after removing the hard plastic transmitter. I quickly rinse the transmitter in cool running water to remove accumulated salt build up. I still haven't had to change the battery out even after 200+ hours of triathlon training and exercise bootcamps. However, I pulled the battery out just to see how easy it was. Very easy! I use my transmitter interchangeably between 2 different models of polar heart rate monitors. My strap has never torn or seemed difficult to remove. I can say from first hand experience that the soft Wearlink transmitter is much more comfortable when wearing an underwire sports bra. The hard plastic model frequently skipped and lost contact when paired with my underwire sports bra. I've never had that issue with the soft Wearlink model. The Wearlink also works well in water. Chlorine doesn't seem to bother it but I rinse the strap and transmitter in cool running water after each swim.
Customer Review: It Just Works Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I had a hard time finding confirmation that this Polar monitor, being coded, would work with Precor treadmills, but it seemed that it would. Now that I have purchased it, I can verify that this works just fine on several Precor models at my health club (specifically, I have tested it on the 954i and the 956i). You walk up to the treadmill, and it immediately starts tracking your heartrate. I have not tested it with "interference" as others at the club don't seem to use HR monitors, but it really is great to have the instant and constant feedback during workouts.
I have no complaints about the requirements on this monitor - wetting down the electrodes and rinsing the strap after usage is just not that big a deal. I'm a pretty large person and the XX-L size promise of the description is real, and the monitor is quite easy to adjust and comfortable to wear.
The monitor itself snaps into the strap firmly, but it releases easily enough with one hand tugging on the monitor.
I am rating it 5 stars because, well, it just works; it's comfortable to wear, and I really don't have anything negative to say about its design or operation.
Customer Review: The most comfortable heart rate monitor chest strap available Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've been using heart rate monitors with chest straps for at least 15 years, and the Polar WearLink+ is the most comfortable one I've used.
This chest strap eliminates the most common problem I've had with other chest straps; inconsistent or inaccurate readings because of poor skin-to-monitor contact. With other chest straps, even with Buh Bump or ultrasound gel, I've had problems. With the WearLink+, you just wet the sensors and put it on, and it simply works.
The actual transmitter unit snaps onto the chest strap via a couple of "button snaps". This means that before you start your workout, or after you're finished, you can keep the transmitter disconnected (I keep mine in a cycling jersey pocket) and not waste the battery.
The strap instructions suggest a hot-water hand washing of the strap at least every five uses. I rinse mine after each workout in water that's too hot to put my hand in, and have never had a problem with salt build-up or odor.
It's the best all around chest strap for heart rate monitors I've used.
Customer Review: Get a New One if your old one is not working properly Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have had a polar cycle computer S720i for 2.5 years and now the wearlink has gotten old and rarely transmits to the computer. So I sent it into a Polar authorized repair shop and they charged me a lot of money and it helped for a few months, but then it went back to only working when dunking in water and then only occationally. So I replaced the battery and still no better, then I was going to do a big ride and wanted to make sure that I captured all of my stats, so I decided to get this new one. Wow, what a difference. I just lick it a little and it works great and syncs with my cycle computer watch instantly, unlike my old one which took 30 seconds to connect if it ever did.
What I am trying to say is that these basically last about 2 - 2.5 years and then just buy another one of these and you will be happy. But make sure that you clean it regularly as instructed in the manual.
