Have yet to use, but I already know its going to taste nasty. What do you expect its iodine. If you want fresh clean water the dig a whole 10 feet from the side of the river bellow the water level, collect that water run it through some shirts or other means of filtration boil it up and enjoy. This is much easier but I keep it for a survival item. Thankfully I haven't had to use yet, but it purify 500 gallons of water!
