Simply fill with liquid and ice and hit the trail. For even longer cooling power, fill your Polar BottleŽ and store it in the freezer before use. Either way, it will keep liquids cold twice as long as conventional water bottles.
Polar Bottle is the original insulated plastic sport bottle and has been keeping liquids colder, longer, since 1994. The bottle has evolved in the years since with brightly colored foil liners and patterns and an innovative removable valve system. Made in America, Polar Bottle is popular throughout the world.

Sports reviews of Polar Insulated Water Bottle

Customer Review: well designed, keeps liquids cold, but the subdued coloring is slightly underwhelming . . .
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

The Polar Insulated Bottle has double sided walls designed to deter heat transfer and also accommodate the expansion of frozen liquids, so that even when filled with liquid and frozen, the bottle's shape remains essentially the same. The bottle does a very good job of keeping the contents from absorbing heat, for a reasonable period of time. The threaded cap also appears to be freezer ready, as the cap can be turned, and the valve opened, even when ice cold. Drinks seem to retain their natural taste, however the bottle will tend to absorb the smell of whatever liquid is stored inside.

The Polar bottle has sets of large grooves that are convenient for gripping. It inserts smoothly into most bottle cages, and is also easily removable while pedaling. It takes a little pressure, but the valve cap slides smoothly, and can be opened while in the holder, or even using your teeth. The bottom section is very soft and squeezable, very convenient for drinking. The upper section is a little stiffer.

In terms of having enough liquid to drink, you may have to experiment and see what ratio works best for where you live. Generally for flavored non-carbonated drinks, if you freeze 50 to 70% of what you intend to carry, and then add the remaining liquid just before you start your ride, most times you should have a steady supply of cool drinkable liquid. Adjust the ratio, if the insulation works too well, and you have ice instead of liquid. If you carry a second bottle, you may need to freeze the entire contents.

Well worth the money, the Polar bottle is very durable, and should withstand most major abuse short of being punctured. The threaded cover is also very sturdy, and with proper care and cleaning, should last for a long time. These bottles are a big improvement over the basic water bottles from the past, where the stem with the valve would typically get brittle and crack.

Color can be a simple way to differentiate bottles if you own more than one. It's a minor disappointment that the colored foil really doesn't show up very well behind the opaque white plastic outer wall. If these bottles were actually made of colored plastic to match, they would really be cool. Using the same housing makes them less expensive to produce, and hopefully this savings is reflected in the pricing.

Customer Review: Love these water containers. Give the cheap ones to your dumb sister
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

So far, and the search is not over yet, these are the best bottles for my use that I have found. As a matter of fact, I own 15 of them. The reason for this is that I run and bike very long and difficult distances. Most of my runs and bike routs are known to me before I start. We live in a very rural area and there are few houses or stops to be had. The evening before I take one of my long jaunts, I drive the route and stash these bottles in various little secret places I have. This allows me, especially on my runs, to carry as little as possible, yet still have plenty of liquid available when I feel I need it.
These particular bottles were very attractive to me. First, they guaranteed to be BPA Free and this is very important to me. They are dishwasher safe. They hole the correct amount of fluid for my needs. They are very long lasting. If I fill them and freeze them, the water will stay cool for hours and hours, something I dreadfully need. I have found no warp problem so far and they are quite durable and with me, they do take a beating. They serve multiple purposes and are as attractive on the golf course as they are for the fuzzy little animals that come across them in the weeds where I hide them. So far I have noted not leakage from any of the ones I own.

I have purchased and used many, many water bottles over the years. Some have been okay, and some absolutely wretched. After I started using these, I gave all my cheap and crappy Wal-Mart bottles to my sister who would not know the difference in a water bottle and a V.W. mini-van. She in generally as dumb as a fence post.

Now I do not have children (it ain't going to happen in this life time) but I feel these would e perfect for children.

Dehydration is a dangerous thing. I know that girls are not suppose to sweat, but I do and I sweat like a pig (just an expression, as pigs do not sweat - did you know that?), and I am always on guard of both in summer and winter.

Anyway, this is a wonderful product and I do strongly recommend it.

Customer Review: great bottle
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

As a professional triathlete my rides depend on quality water and sports drinks. These bottles are superior to every other bottle I have tried and/or endorsed. The lid screws on and off very easily and feels very secure when its on. I have had no problems with leaking. Bottles are fairly easy to squeeze on the bike, and for those who care about such things they are not made with bisphenol-A plastics which are supposedly very bad for you. They are made with low density polyethylene plastic #4. As far as keeping your water cold. CAUTION IF YOU FREEZE THESE BOTTLES OVER NIGHT THEY WILL NOT DEFROST ON YOUR RIDE!! They will stay frozen solid unless you are in intense heat. I froze a bottle when I first got them and put it in one of my water cages for a 6 hr ride in 90 degree plus heat and it took almost 4 hours to be able to squeeze the bottle. Putting water in the bottle at 35 degrees it will stay below about 67 for almost 4 hours. The 24 oz bottles are kinda big for a traditional water cage and because of how cold they will keep your water 20 oz is plenty. But they are almost the same price for the bigger bottles. Putting refrigerated water in them with a couple hand fulls of ice has worked very very well for me. The importance of cold water can not be overstated to the serious athlete who needs to maintain a certain level of performance. For the more casual weekend warriors you also need cold fluids to stay hydrated and keep your body in its aerobic training zone. The bottles also come with a very sturdy carrying strap that works well with a karabiner for hiking or climbing. These bottles are alittle more expensive than most bottles but like alot of things you get what you pay for. I have recommended these bottles to dozens of my friends and family and know dozens more of other elite level triathletes and cyclists who use these bottles for training.

Customer Review: Great bottle excellent customer service!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I love these Polar insulated bottles. I have 5 of them and they work really well. I have one of the older bottles from 2004 that doesn't have the black plastic carry strap and 4 newer bottles. The 24 oz. bottles fit bike cages well and fit on my 15" frame MTB down tube. I use the smaller 20 oz. on my upright tube and it fits decently there. My husband's 19" frame MTB fits 24 oz. bottle on both down and upright tubes just fine.

BPA free bottles and they can take a beating. Freezing is fine and dropping them doesn't dent or shatter them. There a few scratches, but nothing bad after 4 years, almost like new. The bottles don't sweat much if at all either, except from the tops since they're not double insulated. Water stays cool after 2-3 hours of biking in the sun. It works better than the 20 oz. CamelBak insulated Podium bottle (keeps water cooler). I like the convenience of using my teeth to open the bottle instead of the locking top of the Camelbak. Water does come out faster from the Camelbak Podium bottle, but it's not that big a deal for me. I like the wide mouth tops that make adding ice or cleaning with a brush easy.

Polar customer service is beyond excellent. My old Polar bottle began to leak near the top valve and Polar is sending me a replacement top for free. They are also sending me 2 black plastic carry straps too since 2 of my newer bottles didn't come with them. That's really awesome of them. Also there's a real person answering the phones, no recordings for me. Wow!

Update: Can I rate higher than 5 stars? I got my replacement top and straps in 3 days (over the weekend!) with a cool bonus. Thanks Eric. I value customer service almost as much as the product, and with an excellent product and excellent service you have my business.

Customer Review: Great at keeping drinks cold & decreasing bottled water use
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I bought these bottles in hopes of being able to have cold water to drink when we are out and about all day. The second purpose was to decrease / eliminate our use of bottled water. The bottles are fantastic at keeping beverages cold. When we leave with them in the morning (and they stay in the car all day) the water is cold / cool at the end of the day. The ice does eventually melt but we live in Texas so we have high temperatures but the water is still refreshingly cool. I read another review that said the bottles do not sweat but all of ours do - more than I expected. I never saw "no sweating" as a claim by the manufacturer, only in a reviewer's comments. It is much more important to have cold /cool water to drink so I am still pleased with our purchase. If you are a serious water drinker, my advice is to get the larger bottles. One of my kids can empty his large bottle before lunch. However, it is difficult to get the large ones in the top rack of our dishwasher. We have to adjust the rack but then our plates won't fit in. We usually end up washing the bottles by hand and running the tops through the dishwasher cycle. I love these bottles but there are still times when bottled water is a better alternative for us. When we went to the beach last week, I did not take them - I did not want to mess with cleaning sand out of the caps. Also, when you are walking in after a long day of sightseeing out of town, it is much easier to simply recycle an empty bottle than to have a big sink full of bottles to wash and put away. We are using much less bottled water and the kids think the colors are cool - everyone in the family has their own color. I would defnitely recommend these and they have fulfilled my goals.
