Description of Polar F6 Men's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Black Coal)The F6 is a stylish model with advanced features previously found on products over $150. The Polar F6 heart rate monitor is a great choice for using in large groups where other exercisers might be using wireless training gear that could interfere with your own signal. The F6's coded transmission prevents crosstalk with other monitors so you'll get a personalized workout--even in a class environment. It's packed with innovative training features to help you toward your exercise goals, including: - Zone Pointer: A visible and audible feature on the display of your heart rate monitor showing your target heart rate zone and where your current heart rate is within that zone.
- Polar OwnCal: This feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature. Because the OwnCal tracks both the energy expenditure during one exercise session and the accumulated kilocalories during a longer time e.g. one week, it helps in achieving both short term and long term goals.
- Polar OwnZone: This feature guides you through an appropriate warm-up routine and automatically determines a safe and effective exercise heart rate zone--your OwnZone--while taking into account your current physical condition.
- Polar OwnCode: This technology blocks unwanted signals from other heart rate monitors, ensuring disturbance-free transmission of your heart rate data.
The Fitness Bullets feature shows a bullet on the monitor's display for every 10 minutes spent exercising/training in your target heart rate zone. The Time in Target Zone feature calculates the amount of total exercise time spent in your personal target zone. You can use this feature together with the Total Exercise Time to determine the effectiveness of your exercise program. You can also better assess your training data using the included Polar Precision Performance (PPP) 4.0 software and the SonicLink feature, which wirelessly uploads exercise settings to the software or to Polar's web service. Other features include: - Display of heart rate, exercise time and average heart rate
- 24-hour clock with day/week indicator and stopwatch
- Large easy-to-read display with split screen
- One-year average battery life
- Water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet)

Sports reviews of Polar F6 Men's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Black Coal)Customer Review: A "Must Have" for Effective Exercise! Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
My husband and I learned about the importance exercising with a heart rate monitor from the books Younger Next Year and Younger Next Year for Women by Crowley and Lodge. Yes, I know those book titles should be underlined or written in italics. However, this form does not allow that! Getting back to the F6, we thought we'd start with just one heart rate monitor and share it. That way we could see if we would really use a heart rate monitor, and whether or not it was worth the expense.
Wow! What a difference it makes to work out with a heart rate monitor. Now that we've exercised with a heart rate monitor, we wouldn't go back to working out without one! Using a heart rate monitor keeps you on track and working out at appropriate heart rates. It makes the difference between an effective cardio work out and hardly working! It also adds a new, fun dimension to daily work outs.
We are still exploring all the features of the Polar F6, but like what we have used so far. It is fairly easy to set up and use. The watch actually walks you through the set up.
We've now ordered a second Polaris F6 - a pink women's model for me!
Customer Review: Works great... Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
After researching HRMs for a while, I finally decided on this one. It seems like HRMs either do the very basic or try to do everything. This one seems to try to do everything, and the only thing I use is to keep track of my workout time and my instantaneous heart rate. For that purpose, it works great. It does countless other things, which I haven't yet tried to get familiar with. Honestly, I probably could have spent a lot less money and got the functionality I needed, and after having the F6 for a while, I kind of wish I would have. Perhaps over time I'll start using the advanced features. I've turned the out-of-range alarm off in order to save battery power since the unit is supposed to be sent to polar for a battery change. The alarm can be a little annoying anyhow, especially when it is indicating you are over your zone. It would be nice if you could set the alarm to go off only if you are below a certain heart rate and not be concerned with being higher than a set rate.
Regardless, its a great HRM. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, you might consider a lower-end model. I've used this daily for a few weeks now with no problems.
Customer Review: Solid Functionality, Some Good Features Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
Polar makes great heart rate monitors. The chest strap is basically the same for all models, from the lowest to the upper range. It's the watch/receiver part that makes the difference. I've found them to be very accurate in terms of tracking heart rate. This one has a nice feature that allows you to bring it close to the chest strap to toggle the display from heart rate, to elapsed workout time, to the actual time.
As long as you read the manual, and figure out how to cover the basics of setup and use, you should have no problems using the T31 as an excellent addition to your workout routine.
For some solid foundation & some good workouts revolving around the use of a heart rate monitor, get "Slow Burn" by Stuart Millman. His mentor/guru is Phil Maffettone, who has two great books, "The Maffettone Method," and "Fix Your Feet," both highly revolutionary and groundbreaking in terms of fitness. These books could change your life, together with your new heart rate monitor, as they did mine.
Customer Review: Lives Up to Expectations Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
Polar heart rate monitors were recommended very highly by the trainers at my gym. After doing a significant amount of internet research on heart rate monitors I decided to purchase the Polar F6. This HRM has balanced functionality and price.
Pros: The watch is comfortable, natively works with almost all the machines at the gym, easy to read when jogging, menu system is simple. It is nice to be able to see the workout stats at the end of the week. You can set your own heart rate zones or use the pre-programmed versions.
Cons: Oftentimes I have to moisten my skin under the strap to get the sensor to start. After only a month there is some fraying on the strap.
Overall I would recommend this watch to anybody looking for a fairly cheap and accurate heart rate monitor. I have already purchased the female version (slightly smaller and pink) for my wife and she hasn't had any complaints yet.
Customer Review: Excellent excercise companion Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
I bought this watch three months ago as a replacement of a Reebok HRM (by the way one of the worst decisions I ever made)
Since I started using it I feel the difference. It really help me with my exercise routine (I workout 3 to 4 times a week using a Elliptical trainer machine). The memories and the features are very helpful and easy to use.
The only negative thingh is the polar link communication it does not work. I tried to communicate with different computers unsuccessfully. Also the web page is hard to configure and the personal settings needed to be reentered several times.
Besides the software and the web page the HRM is a very good adquisition and it really helps with your training.
