Sports reviews of Polar F55 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Bronze Rock)Customer Review: Good watch but not worth the full price Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I purchased this watch 2 months ago. I had another polar before and although I paid almost the same amount of money for both of them the functionality on the F55 are too complex to use unless you really dedicate time to it. If you are a gym freak then it is the product for you. If not buy something simpler to use.
Customer Review: Moving on Sport shop rating: 2 Stars
I am not a fan of the F55. I have owned a Polar HRM on and off for 10 years, but I am moving on. This was the worst of the bunch. The controls are fidgety and unintuitive. The watch stopped working in about 1.5 years, and no its not the battery and not under warranty. I will look into other brands.
Customer Review: Defective design. Not up to Polar's historic standards. Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
I purchased this watch in February 2008 and the wristband broke off, after normal use, in October 2008. I sent it in for repair and paid $20 to have them replace the chrome-plastic bezel and plastic lens (within only 8 months they had seriously scratched). So I received the watch back in like new condition only to have the same defects happen 8 months later. I sent it in for repair and they replaced the band but did not fix the scratches or bezel. When I attempted to put the watch on the wristband broke off again. I had to threaten litigation to get them to do something about it (in this case, offer a credit towards a newer model that is designed better). I still had to pay $95 for a new hrm. Polar used to be a company one could rely on but they have become obsessed with profits and production cuts. I guess their CEOs need more money to live more extravagant lifestyles. Before Polar was a worldwide name, their watches were made with the best materials known to man; now that they have built their reputation, they can let production quality slide a bit. Buyer beware.
Customer Review: All that hard work and can't use it. Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
I've owned my F55 for about a year now and have been happy using it as an aid to keep me in the zone for my runs.. but that is about all this Polar unit is good for. If you start to advance and want to get all the hard earned data out of this device your stuck with Polar's anemic PolarPersonalTrainer web site.. It is NOT supported by the overly expensive ProTrainer5 software and to add insult to injury you cannot create .HRM files to import into more advanced training software (i.e. Training peaks, etc). The other problem I've had with this HRM is the band; it's difficult to put on and take off and doesn't have the ability to be replaced with a quick Velcro band.. All in all after a year of using this HRM and not being able to access my data I've finally given up on Polar, I'm going to move on to Garmin or Suunto. (Yes I'm willing to pay more to have a well engineered "solution" over pretty websites and fancy marketing buzz words.)
Customer Review: Not recommended Sport shop rating: 1 Stars
The documentation was not appropriate to the product version. The product is unecessarily complicated and filled with silly features, for example, customized exercise routines. To measure heart rate, you have to wear a belt with transponder to get your pulse into the machine, and the belt that you have to wear you have to douse is water periodically. The installation and use of the belt are not documented. Readout is in a bizarre font. Amazon, of course, took it right back for full credit.
