By itself, the A4 makes a good training aid, but it's particularly valuable when paired with any Polar transmitter, as the two together offer continuous heart rate monitoring. As a result, you'll know what your heart rate is throughout your workout, rather than only when you press the button. Plus, the A4 offers all the standard sports watch functions, including an alarm, calendar, stopwatch, backlight, and target zone alarms. The watch also offers a calorie counting function and exercise file record when combined with a chest strap transmitter (not included). I bought this because I like the idea of using it without the chest strap. However, I use my chest strap (had from previous HR monitor) whenever I wear the watch for working out. My only complaint is that it is BIG, especially for a woman to wear. I was hoping with the basic color it could be my everyday watch so I could periodically check my rate. Alas, I only use it while working out then switch back to my woman's sport watch.Customer Review: Good for price

I wanted this watch to check my heart rate during exercise. So far, it has worked pretty good. I occasionally get an obviously wrong reading, but for the most part the readings are correct (or at least within a couple beats of accurate).
The watch has a lot of other features, but I have not bothered to use them.
