About Planet Bike
In November 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, WI. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.

Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact.

Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high-quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, the company strives to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short 10-year history, it has made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the four-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that 10 years ago started as a one-man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve its product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

Sports reviews of Planet Bike Blinky "3" 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light

Customer Review: Simple, Inexpensive, Effective and Well Designed
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

A good deal. Bright and offers blinking or steady light via a rubber button switch. Easy to mount on the seat stem, or on a tubular structural member on the rear of the bike. Comes with a larger clamp for the seat stem mounting and a smaller clamp for smaller structures. Seems sturdy and well-made. Access to batteries is via the lens, which snaps on and off. Very simple device, but seems to have everything you could want and definitely increases your visibility on dark roads. I was fully satisfied and believe you probably will be, too.

Customer Review: Secure it to bike
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I found this on the street after it came off somebody's bike. It has flown off my bike once, luckily I heard it hit. Use some rubber bands or stretchy tape to help secure it to seat bag loop.

Not as sophisticated as the super flash models, but not bad at much less cost. Less likely to get stolen too. But, if you want the best get a super flash.

All tail lights should be tested and alignment checked before leaving the house. Alignment is critical and sloppy installation can degrade performance of lights by 90%.

Customer Review: big, bright, red
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This is an essential piece of safety gear no biker should be without. It has a nice big display that can be set to blink or steady on. It can be mounted to the seat post but the seat post mount can be removed revealing a clip on the back of the light. This allows you to clip it to the back of your jersey, your helmet, your trunk bag. I will probably purchase a couple more of these to as a safety precaution now that the days are growing shorter and my evening commute is growing darker. You can see more of my bike gear at [...]

Customer Review: Great bike light
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I have a Schwinn Volare flat bar bike and installed this on the back of my bike near the back wheel (doesn't fit under my seat). The light is bright, has 2 modes, and works better than I imagined. I would strongly suggest this light.

Finding where to put the battery was cumbersome and the directions didn't help until I realized you just have to slide off the red reflector part of it to put the battery in. I was worried I was going to crack it, but alas the worry was for nothing.

Buy this light.

Customer Review: Good for walking as well
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

My wife and I do a lot of nighttime walking, usually in areas without sidewalks. We each use a Blinky 3, and are reasonably confident that vehicles approaching from any direction see us in plenty of time to avoid an accident. It has a build-in clip you can use to attach the device to clothing. Although the clip doesn't attach to clothing as securely as we would like, it works. As an alternative you can always run a cord though the ring, and wear the device around your neck like a pendant (which is what we now do).
