I bought this from mooncussergifts (now Netlink Enterprises) and am very pleased with the overall product. This item uses two Double-A batteries and has six settings. I also bought another item that uses two Triple-A batteries and has three settings, which was about a dollar cheaper.
The purpose of this item is visibility. Side by side, the two just don't compare. This item is much brighter and much more visible than the Triple-A version. It is bright enough that, up close, it is uncomfortable to look at. On a dark night without much interference, either item is going to be fine. But, if you travel on public streets, or in places with a lot of light interference, you'll be happy to know that the extra light output and the more creative settings will help you to be easily noticed by motorists.
With that said, this flasher is just a touch bigger and a tad heavier (the weight difference between two triple-A and two double-A), but I'm not trying to shave ounces for a race or anything so I don't even notice the difference.
