Customer Review: Fantastic Buy - Should Have Purchased Sooner!

After getting in to cycling a few years back and finding myself time and again trying to service my bikes upside down I finally decided enough was enough; I was buying a mechanics stand. While doing a bunch of research I narrowed the stands that fit my budget and needs down to the Park Tool PCS 9 and 10. I had myself pretty well convinced that I did not need the extra frills on the 10 until I came across an older used Park Tool stand that I purchased for work. It was the type with the heavy duty clamp head with the long spring loaded arm you often see in bike shops. The used one is OK but not tall enough and I found myself setting it on top of landscaping bricks so I did not have to bend over all the time. Using a non-adjustable stand changed my mind and I decided to give the PCS-10 a shot and boy am I glad I did!
After receiving the stand it took me about 30 minutes to unpack and assemble it. Once it all went together (and now after countless hours working on my bikes) I realize how good of a stand it is. In the stock photo the legs and neck look thin but it is actually nice 1.5 inch diameter tubing. It is built really well and is very sturdy. All the quick release handles are great and are a feature you think you don't care about until you use them a bunch and realize how glad you are that they are there. The adjustability is awesome and the stand is plenty tall (at 5'8" I'm not a giant but I'm sure taller individuals will find it great as well). I love that you can clamp the top tube of many bikes to gain even more height.
Another feature I love is how packable the stand is. Because the legs fold up and the neck telescopes down you can break the stand down into a compact easy to store or pack unit. This is a great stand to take to races and because I don't have a garage I store it in a closet when not in use.
I was concerned about the head on this stand because my other one has what I considered a more "professional" one, but my concerns were unfounded. The head on this stand is much easier to us than my other one and I really like it much better. You can use this clamp easily with one hand which is a must when you are holding a bike up with the other.
Overall this stand is awesome and I recommend it to everyone. I really think that it is completely worth the 34 extra bucks for the upgrade from the PCS-9 to get the quick release handles and better clamp, you will be glad you did.
