If you invest in a mechanic stand, you will want a mechanism to keep the front wheel from turning. You can rig something up yourself or go with this custom-built solution.
What you get is a thick steel wire, coated in plastic with a Velcro strap. They are clearly making a healthy margin on this product!
On the other hand, the holder works really well; quickly and effectively securing the handle bars securely on each of my four bikes.

I bought one of these for my bike and soon bought another for my wife's bike. It's great for simple bike maintenance that doesn't require a full bike stand. It even makes airing up tires easier when the bars can't swing around and make the bike fall.
If you have a roof rack, I would very highly recommend one of these to simplify getting the bike on and off the rack. It's secure enough to keep on there for the drive, too.

This is good when you need it and have not made something to do the same thing; it must work differently with each bike so I give it a 4 due to limitations and price but Park Tools does make quality it is the different configurations that will make this a useful tool for your habit!

Simple tool to assist in maint./cleaning of bike. Sure, you can wrap a bungee around the handlebars, pinch your fingers or accidentally release the bungee so it smacks you in the face. I do a lot of maint. and cleaning and this holder saves time and prevents injury. What price for safety?Customer Review: Ahh....

To be fair, it is what it is. What they say it is. So , no wrong doing by Park Tool. That is why I gave it four stars. As far as buying it, it will not be your favorite item , but for +/- $16.00 I don't mind. But I have almost every tool. Cheers!
