Customer Review: Good idea, but needs a little more work

TEST SETUP -- I recently had the opportunity to test this item in both ocean and pool environments where there were a number of good quality medium power FM stations transmitting, both at night and during the day.
PRODUCT CONSTRUCTION -- Good. Solid construction ( low flexibility of parts that might flex and cause an internal leak ), good fit and finish ( even seams, good decals, good clearance on the tuning knobs and buttons ), surprisingly loud and clear for its size, no issues with water penetration into either the main component cavity or battery compartment.
PRODUCT OPERATION -- A short disclaimer here, building antennas that work well in water or just centimeters above it can be a challenge. That said, this unit worked fairly well if you set the station and then maintained at least a foot distance from the submarine. Tuning stability was very good in hot tub, pool, and ocean during the day and at night.
OVERALL RATING -- Good for general radio listening while in your favorite body of water. I would give it an excellent rating if the antenna system were a little bit better, but this is a steal for the price. A good gift for kids and a good choice for a poolside appliance.
