Description of Open Country Individual 5-Piece Nonstick Mess KitThe set is perfect for a rugged individual. The fry pan handle converts to a clamp with the loosening of the bolt and nut. Two positive detents parallel the bolt to ensure the handle will not slide around when frying. Finished with a one-coat nonstick finish makes clean up easier and the black nonstick coating allows for faster heat transfer. A backpacker or solo camper will find this mess kit indispensable. A step up from kits of old, this one features a nonstick finish on the inside of the 3/4-quart pot, seven-inch frying pan, and seven-inch dish. All cookware is made of aluminum for lightweight yet sturdy use. A plastic eight-ounce cup with handle stores inside the pot with its snug lid. When all the parts are nestled together, the frying pan?s handle pivots over the pot and screws securely. Plastic or wooden cooking utensils should be used, and cleanup is a simple matter of wiping off each nonstick surface. --Ann Bieri
Sports reviews of Open Country Individual 5-Piece Nonstick Mess KitCustomer Review: Great standard mess kit, nonstick Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
Good, all around mess kit. I read complaints about the nonstick surface wearing off quickly. This isn't the case at all. I imagine people using abrasive cleaning methods. Also, I oil my set before I set out on the trail, which I'm sure helps out as well. This set is pretty sturdy, cooks pretty evenly with no discoloration. I would definitely recommend this set for the price/quality.

Nice non stick surface, good, size, nests well. Only reason I didn't go 5 starts is because a metal sierra cup with folding handle would be better than a plastic one.
Customer Review: Nice kit but could be better for the price Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
It's a nice kit and I am using and will continue to use it. I thought that the cup is too small, but this size is actually very convenient. But I don't like the black nonstick cover, especially on the pan where after a few uses bottom isn't smooth anymore. I'd prefer clean aluminium as I bought to my son in Walmart for less money. I also must notice that this mes kit wouldn't fit into a bigger pot from the same company, so you cannot expect that as well.
But it's lightweight, strong enough, and pretty comfortable and I like it anyways.
Customer Review: Decent but disposable Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I used the frying pan once over a small camp stove to cook bacon and eggs. It worked fine for cooking, but when I cleaned it I noticed spots of the nonstick surface came off. I didn't use any metal to cook with or clean it. It did come clean, but after a few uses, I imagine the nonstick surface will be worn. I don't see getting very many uses out of this set. Which is unfortunately, because it is fairly well-made, light, and packs up nice.
Customer Review: Sticky Subject Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I purchased this kit to be able to cook for 5 people (2 adults and 3 kids). I was impressed with the versatility of the kit. What I was dissappointed with the the "non-stick" coating. I have had cheap mess kits with better non-stick coating. It held up well, but was too sticky for my taste. I guess I'll just drag along a spray bottle of cooking oil next time.
