I purchased this kit to be able to cook for 5 people (2 adults and 3 kids). I was impressed with the versatility of the kit. What I was dissappointed with the the "non-stick" coating. I have had cheap mess kits with better non-stick coating. It held up well, but was too sticky for my taste. I guess I'll just drag along a spray bottle of cooking oil next time.
Description of Open Country Individual 5-Piece Nonstick Mess Kit
The set is perfect for a rugged individual. The fry pan handle converts to a clamp with the loosening of the bolt and nut. Two positive detents parallel the bolt to ensure the handle will not slide around when frying. Finished with a one-coat nonstick finish makes clean up easier and the black nonstick coating allows for faster heat transfer.A backpacker or solo camper will find this mess kit indispensable. A step up from kits of old, this one features a nonstick finish on the inside of the 3/4-quart pot, seven-inch frying pan, and seven-inch dish. All cookware is made of aluminum for lightweight yet sturdy use. A plastic eight-ounce cup with handle stores inside the pot with its snug lid. When all the parts are nestled together, the frying pan's handle pivots over the pot and screws securely. Plastic or wooden cooking utensils should be used, and cleanup is a simple matter of wiping off each nonstick surface. --Ann Bieri
