Caveat: I didn't buy this for myself. I bought it for someone else, but am sharing some of my opinions of the product.
I bought this for my girlfriend's grandmother, who is almost a head and a half shorter than me (I'm 5'9"). She is in her late 70s and was reaching for items on the top shelf of the cabinets by standing on a cheap plastic stool and leaning over dangerously. She has already suffered from a broken arm and I didn't want to see her suffer another major injury, so I purchased this.
Now, I'm usually skeptical about "As Seen on TV" products. They rarely (if ever) deliver on their promises. However, this pick-up tool actually exceeded my expectations. The build quality is quite good. The plastic does not feel as cheap as other grabbers I've seen. The folding feature is quite useful, as this product is at least, if not longer than three feet. The suction cups are well designed, though they're not made to hold suction, since there have been holes placed in them.
Another great feature is the ability to lock the grabber in place once you have grabbed the item. This is a great feature for elderly people who don't have the strength or stamina to squeeze the grip for a long period of time.
Overall, this is a great product and worth the extra cash compared to the other grabbers listed on Amazon. Well designed, good build quality. I'd buy another if I needed it.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product. This vendor through Amazon had the best bottom-line price when I did my search and the build quality is first-rate. I had been buying grabber tools from dollar stores and, although they worked, they would shatter easily. The Ontel Gopher tool is predomantly metal and should hold up well.
Most likely as a feature to prevent breakage, the metal flanges which couple to the suction-cup grips tend to flex if you try to lift something that's too heavy. I guess this is a good thing, since it would be a lot harder to break this tool than others. But, it would be great if it could lift a little more weight.
Nonetheless, the Gopher has come in handy a number of times, when a small cardboard box has fallen behind a piece of furniture, a cup of pens has slid off the desk into a crevice, etc. It's a real time-saver!

We've ordered all kinds and brands of reachers and grabbers. So far all break down in one way or another. Guess they are not made to be long lasting.Last 3 of this style were not so great - one came with bending button unusable so it was straight all the time, one lost the rubber tips right away, one lost the metal springs quickly. Don't remember the brands, but we are rough on these things. Just got this one, so don't know how long it will last, but it arrived in the most usable shape so far. I can reach up for things and reach behind tight areas for things without a problem. It helped me hook a plant up on a ceiling Note that I held the pot and hooked on the chain. Don't try to lift anything too heavy with this. It doesn't feel like it will hold.
I like the fact that you can rotate the grips so you can get into different types of spaces.

This is a very good tool. The only problem is the rubber tips have a tendency to unscrew and fall off. I glue them on with rubber glue. Other than that, I've picked up pennies with it.
