have used this machete for past 7 days at work and it works better than the flimsy machetes provided by through work-- have a gerber 18 inch with saw back and wish I had never bought it now that I have this one(the ontario knife is stronger and heavier but not to much heavier than 18 inch gerber w/sawback and on kisckbacks that are a normal process of heavy useage the ontario machete is safer because it does not have the sawback(--serated--back of machete saw side) that hurts like hell when it hits vereus the flat edge of the backside of the ontario knife-- ontario sells a longer machete with sawback but is not suggested to use
