Customer Review: Great lock, despite being a bit heavy

Most of my bikes are over $4,000, so when I looked for a lock, I looked for somethign that would make sure they were right where I left them. The onguard brute does the trick. Its wide enough to fit around the odd tubing sizes on my mountain bikes, and make it around a railing or something else to lock it in place. I ahve seen a ton of U-Locks and this is probably the biggest, toughest one I have ever seen in my life. The carrying attachment is a joke, so be prepared to carry it in a backpack if you want to drag it around with you.Customer Review: Remove the metal bracket attachment; trust me.

Awesome lock, probably overkill, but you can't put a price on peace of mind. You won't find a better lock for the price.
But remove the bracket attacher on the "U" portion of the lock. It's on one side at the bottom of the "U" and looks like it's part of the U but it's not. You can twist it off, and I suggest you do because it WILL become dislodged and get in the way of the locking mechanism.
You don't want to use the bracket anyway; everyone here says it'll come off in time.

It is heavy duty, and I would commend anyone that was able to steal my bike when it is locked up with this. If you are worried about security, this is the way to go. If you want something compact and light, this is the wrong lock to buy. I park on a college campus everyday, and I have absolutely no fear when I lock my bike up and go to class. I love the lock, and would purchase it again. It comes with 5 keys, and locks very smoothly. I definitely recommend this lock.Customer Review: Heavy and Tough

This is a lock that not many thieves are gonna mess with...Really heavy, thick, pretty much impossible for someone to cut through. Its big enough for two bikes. Its too heavy to ride around with though, so if you commute to work or school, you may want to leave locked to a bike rack, etc.Customer Review: OnGuard brute STD 5001 lock

great lock. i feel very secure with it. the only problem/complaint would be that it is a bit too big for my use. i generally use it to lock my back wheel and frame, and there is a bit of left over room after i lock it. regardless, it is a lock i enjoy very much
