Customer Review: Outstanding Tactical Flashlight

This flashlight is "just right". Some are too large, some seem too small... this one fits easily in the hand and extends about 1.5" beyond the grip of the average size hand. That places the stainless steel waffled-edged lens ring in easy striking distance without giving much opportunity for an attacker to pull the light from the hand.
The momentary button on the side of the grip near the base automatically provides MAXIMUM brightness and STROBE mode and is in a good position to press while holding the flashlight in a defensive manner. The only improvement would be some tactile way to locate that button more easily. As it is, the button is smooth and a bit hard to locate by touch quickly. I suppose you could put a small drop of silicone on the face of the button to help your fingers locate it quickly.
The momentary push button switch on the side of the flashlight also changes the flashlight brightness from low to medium to maximum to strobe and back to low (in that order) AFTER the button on the base of the flashlight has been pressed "on". The flashlight will return to the last brightness setting when the flashlght is turned back on. The button on the bottom is purely an on/off switch. Light intensity is changed via the SIDE button.
Wish the base of the flashlight extended another 1/4" so that the flashlight could be placed upright on its base to set it on a flat surface. As it is, the on/off button extends just a tad too far and touches first on flat surfaces making it impractical to balance in an upright position.
320 lumens is BRIGHT when your eyes are dark adapted. As an Optometric Physician I can verify that the strobe is capable of temporarily flash blinding a person who looks directly at the light. Depending on age and physical condition this temporary flash blindness may last up to 30 seconds. Even rendering an attacker/intruder visually impaired for 5-10 seconds should give you time to determine a course of action from running away, summoning help and/or taking a defensive position and/or getting a defensive weapon.
The light has a nice white quality with very little "blue" color in the beam. There is NO dark center spot (unlike most flashlight beams). The beam is fairly focused into a relatively small center beam... certainly adequate in width but not a broad wide beam. There is some "scatter" of the light all around the center beam to illuminate a wider area than the central beam, but the illumination in this area is much less bright. It is bright enough to easily walk by and see objects outside the central beam. I find no need to wish the beam was adjustable for width. This one seems about "just right" as is.
It is a little too large to carry easily in a pants pocket, but with the built in removable large clip it easily hangs on a belt, pant waistband or outside pocket of a purse. The included neck strap easily hooks/unhooks from a hole in the flange near the base of the flashlight. If you don't mind having something swinging from your neck (similar to carrying binoculars on a strap), then this is an easy way to have the light handy without risk of dropping it or having to find a place to clip it on clothing. It comes with what appears to be a soft side ballistic nylon case to put on a belt if you prefer to carry it enclosed.
All-in-all, this is a 5-star device. Well made, lightweight, "just right" size with a VERY bright 320 lumen maximum power. The momentary button IMMEDIATELY provides a maximum brightness strobe. This is an EXCELLENT idea and well implemented. Many other lights I considered only got to the strobe by repeatedly pressing the on/off button... usually 3-4 times to get from off-low-medium-high to strobe and then back off. Who wants to press the button 3-4 times to get to the strobe setting? In a panic I doubt many people would have the presence of mind to keep pressing the on/off button to get to the strobe setting. With this light just press and hold the side button... INSTANT bright strobe!
There may be other tactical flashlights that are equally good, but I doubt there are many that are significantly better... especially for the price! You won't go wrong purchasing this unit.
