Description of Night Owl Explorer Marine Pro Night Vision Scope
I have been looking for an affordable night vision scope for years, and I believe I have found it in the aptly named Night Owl Explorer. The well-thought-out design and powerful optics make this scope a pure pleasure to use. Since finding it, I have spent many nights standing on my back porch exploring with my eyes the area around my home.

The Night Owl fit my hand perfectly, and the deep blue rubber outer coating made for a nice look and feel, while also weatherproofing the unit. The handy strap held it tight to my palm, placing both the Power and the Illuminator buttons directly under my fingers for easy control. The care taken with the Night Owl extends to the smallest of details, including power management: Simply setting it down turns the power off so you will never accidently run the batteries down. --Dave Cole

The Night Owl Explorer Marine Pro night-vision scope gives you a premium performance tool that is engineered to higher than usual specifications. The two-piece body is coated in a "night blue" weather-resistant rubber, making this monocular ideal for hiking, fishing, nocturnal wildlife observations, and many other outdoor activities where you don't want to worry about the weather damaging your equipment. It can be used within a temperature range of -22 to 113 degrees F (-30 C to 45 degrees C).

You can use up alot of batterries if you use the Infared on it and leave the green light on alot.Both at the same time can use alot of juice.
I made my own infared from a latern and using filters of red and colbalt blue or just red.It will light up and large area and look like day light thru green glasses.I am talking 200 yards in the darkness.
You can not use this in a city or town in most cases too much light but at night in the woods you can light up the night and see all the creatures,some scary,some not so.
I hunt at night and found them to be a valueable tool in finding hogs.While waiting you see all knids of other things too but you have to do it spareingly or you eat up your battery fast.
It's hefty,soft to the touch,nice lenses,flimsy strap for what you pay for it.Never dropped so don't know about if it's tuff enough,had mine for about 2 years.

I have been using this scope on the beach at night to monitor sea turtle nesting. When up close, the image is excellent, but not so good for far away (more than 100-200 ft). Very easy to use, and the fact that it's waterproof is a plus (haven't dropped it in the ocean yet!). You can't really get a feel for how good the image is in a residential area, but out on the beach, with the moonlight, it rocks. Most of the time I don't even need the IR illuminator. To save power, turn it off, and it will still provide an image with the available light for almost 5 minutes. If you're looking to see things that are far away, this scope won't work well, but for things that are close by (say, from one end of the backyard to the other) it's a good deal. I put mine in a hard sided padded carrying case, since it gets bounced around on the ATV, and haven't had a problem yetCustomer Review: GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY!

Well, for the price, you cant really complain. The only problem I read in other reviews and found true myself was the battery issue.
The battery does not fit, so in turn, it doesnt work. I had to rig it a little with wiring so the battery would fit inside and get a connection. Aside from that, the night vision is Gen1 and fine.
I probably viewed approx 35 yards without IR. IR is a big help of course...though it can be visibly detected if you are using it ( for those that use it for Paintballing,airsoft etc). But without IR, i was able to see fairly well in at night. It will come in handy for my camping trips and other outdoor activites.

I ordered this product through Amazon and recevied it promptly. The product itself is robust and works very well. It is however, very difficult to get a good focus. I usually get good service/product when ordereing from Amazon but this time I was a bit dissapointed. I ordered a "new" unit and not a used one. The product came in an opened box with origianl product packaging missing. Obviously a used returned item. You would expect more when paying $276.00 for an item. I would have returned it but It seemed to work fine. I am happy with the product but unhappy with Amazon for sending me used goods and saying it was new.Customer Review: Weight?

The specs say this hummer weighs 3 lbs. but the shipping weight is 1.9lbs.Typo in the specs or in the shipping info?
