This is an excellent little canteen. It's made from high quality stainless steel so it's resistant to corrosion and great at keeping your drink cool. The cap is also stainless steel covered with a plastic bit for strapping a carabiner or sting to.
Another advantage of the stainless steel is that it is BPA free, a chemical that is involved in the production of certain plastics such as polycarbonate bottles like Nalgene. A disadvantage of the stainless steel is that it scratches and dents more easily. It can also crack under really intense pressure, whereas the polycarbonate bottles can be run over by a car and still not breach. However, I don't think I'll be seeing that kind of damage to my canteen ever.
I also like the taste of water from a stainless container. I don't know if that's purely psychological or not, but I suppose it's the difference from drinking beer from a can or a bottle.

I first decided to get this water bottle when I heard the concerns with some of the plastics used in others. I figured as much as I was drinking out of my last bottle, might as well be safe and get one of these. Here are the
pros:
-As I mentioned, it's metal
-The metal doesn't pick up funny odors or tastes as my plastic bottle did
-Seals well and doesn't leak (as long as you turn it all the way shut)
-Holds plenty of water (40 oz.)
-Easy to clean, just put some vinegar or baking soda in it, there aren't any crevices that are difficult to clean either!
cons:
-Bulky (well obviously because it holds 40 oz., hardly any wasted space)
-Dents easily (doesn't affect its function, only its looks)
Well the cons don't bother me and I have found this product to be extremely useful.

I ordered two of these bottles and they are just what I was looking for. I drop them all the time and let them roll around the cargo area of my car and no dents or scratches. Neither bottle leaks and I have been using them for about two months, even carry them around in my bag on their side. I did note that the logo has nearly come off of one of the bottles after repeated cycles in the dishwasher, however, I hate logos on my things so I consider that a plus.
I like the design of the lid, very easy to loop a finger into to carry it around. I also appreciate that no plastic is in contact with the water. You can fill this water bottle up, let it bake in your hot car for days, and if you need a drink stick it somewhere to cool and all you taste is pure water.

I like this bottle and overall it is very well designed. This is the biggest bottle I can find that is made out of stainless steel. It's not too heavy when it's empty, and I have gotten to a point where I don't think it's too heavy either when it is filled with water. This bottle is also pretty easy to clean without putting it through the dish washer (as I don't think you are suppose to put it through the dish washer anyway?)
The only criticism I have for the bottle is that if the cap is not screwed in tightly, it leaks. Which makes me paranoid about the bottle tipping and leaking on me. Although, I have to say that if I am careful and screw the cap tightly, then there's no problems.

I really like this bottle and I bought two because I always like to make my teas in bulk. Today, I dropped one for the first time and cracked the plastic off the closure/plug. I was unhappy that the fall broke the cap, but the seal is still intact and the cap that's left can still operate, so it's not a total loss by any means. Still, I'm buying the blue stainless cap and I'm getting the Sport's Cap for this size as well. I wish there were flat topped caps available for the New Wave Bottles, the way there are for other peoples' bottles. (Hint! Hint!) Nontheless, this was a good deal for my money as well as for the environment and I'd buy a third one if something dire happened to one of the 2 I have.
