Customer Review: Nice Product and no problems so far
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I currently own two of these bottles and have had them for about 10 months now and I love them. I fill them up and keep them in my fridge. They have been left in my car on the hottest days and I have put them in the freezer to freeze water in them. I have dropped them(yes, they have dings) but I feel like I have treated them roughly and they have stood up to the abuse.

Customer Review: Been Using this bottle for Years and Love It
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

Starting with the positives. I have been using the bottle for several years now and still love it and have no major issues. I have not had many of the problems others complain about such as cracking or holes. And trust me, I am hard on this bottle. I've dropped it many times, from relatively high up. I haven't dropped it off any tall building or anything, but your regular daily dropping from desks, tables, high shelves, down stairs, et cetera- it's help up find to all of these. I have some dents from falls, but they are very minor considering how much of a beating it's taken.

I have had no issues with metallic taste in the water. And I'm actually rather sensitive to weird water tastes.

The water may start to taste funky if you don't clean it regularly, but just clean it and it won't be a problem. I find cleaning with baking soda as suggested on the bottle is most effective.

That said, there are a few downsides to the bottle. The sports top it comes with is not great. It's not as durable and during one significant fall, the bottle's top did break. After this I bought another sports top bottle and a new twist off lid for the bottle I had.

The twist off lids are much better. They are a little noisy opening- I carry mine with me everywhere and use it at work and in class, so in a quiet class room, it makes a noticeable noise of metal on metal opening and closing. But I've never considered that a serious issue enough that I've stopped using it, and it's not that loud that it creates a very serious disruption.
The metal on metal is also good thing 1. many people choice stainless steel because they are worried about chemicals from plastics. With the twist off lid you have no plastic contact with your water. 2. It's easier to clean! 3. It's more durable and does not break as easily as the sports top.

I wanted a sports top for at the gym or to use while jogging. But the sports top lid on this bottle is hard to open and close and lets through very little water.

As well, the comments that the bottle expands from cold water- I've experienced this as well. The bottom over time from cold water becomes rounded. It's not a daily problem for me, so I don't have to do this frequently. Whenever I notice the bottle wobbling a bit from a rounded bottom I just hit it a few times on the bottom with a hammer- problem solved!

Despite my love for this bottle, I can't claim it is without it's problems, which is why I only gave it 4 stars to be fair.
But none of these problems are enough that I would spend more money on a more expensive brand. There are some problems, but overall it's a great stainless steel, durable bottle, and I'll be sticking with this brand.

Customer Review: It leaked at first, but this is fixable
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I don't like drinking straight from stainless... it gives things an off taste to my mind. So I thought I would prefer a stainless bottle with a sports cap.

This is a nice bottle in a lot of ways: It's attractive and sturdy, has large capacity, and the Amazon price is currently less than six dollars!

But since the top leaks, it's limited in usefulness. Mine leaks from the airhole at the top. I'm sure the extra hole is necessary for the water to properly come out the spout, but it means you can't just throw this bottle in a gym bag. Thus, for a sports bottle, the top needs a redesign.

Update: The leaking is fixable. The airhole has a small white stopper in it. I opened the cap and pushed the white cap in more tightly. Now it is harder to drink from the bottle, which makes sense, 'cause there's a vacuum now. But it's not leaking any more. Quite possibly, this is a feature, not a bug; you can push down a bit on the white while the lid is on and have an easier drink... though it would be pesky to keep moving it back and forth and probably not very durable that way. So you'll probably want to decide whether you want a tight seal or an easier pour.

Note that you can get a standard "loop top" cap for this bottle if you prefer.... but you might prefer to get the bottle that just comes with that top. (Also available at Amazon crazy low pricing.) But again, that won't quite work for me if I want to drink straight out of the bottle because of that stainless tinge.

I miss Nalgene. But now that I fixed the leak, I am pretty happy with this bottle.

Note: technically, you could put these in the dishwasher. But if you do, that lovely color is likely to come off. If you plan to do this, you probably want to choose the plain silver color. Actually, let me revise this a bit: It's tall and skinny... the inside of the bottle is not going to get washed very well in a dishwasher. So even though you "could", it's probably not the best way to wash this bottle anyway.

Customer Review: Good, but not great
Sport shop rating: 3 Stars

Taste:
I noticed some metallic taste. If I left water in it for more than a day it started tasting very metallic. To be fair, I've only found two products that I like to store water in: glass and styrene acrylonitrile(Brita uses it in their pitchers). Both of those materials are very brittle.

Size:
The bottle is a bit too tall; it didn't fit in my bottle holders very well. When filled completely full it would sometimes shift in my bicycle cage because of the weight. The weight was also a problem when I let the bottle dangle from my pack.

Durability:
I've dropped this bottle quite a few times and was worried that I might have busted it a couple times, but it has held up. You will end up putting a lot of dings in this bottle.

Use:
Not bad, but three sticking points. The valve is pretty stiff and hard to open while peddling a bicycle. The opening on the top isn't big enough to easily put ice cubes in the bottle. The bottle is too tall, it tips over a bit too easily.

Overall:
I ended up switching to a 750ml Camelback Better Bottle. The metallic taste never went away and this bottle was awkward for how I used it. I'm more satisfied with the camelback bottle, it takes about twice as long for the water to taste funny as it did in this bottle.

Customer Review: Not My Favorite
Sport shop rating: 3 Stars

I have used this water bottle for a few weeks now. It's bigger than I need. I prefer another style, the Thermos Nissan Stainless Steel Hydration Bottle which is 18 oz. Much nicer in size and I prefer the protective lid that keeps the top covered when not using.
