Customer Review: Best For Chronic Pain... Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
When I was a kid, my right knee was crushed by a runaway truck. I remember the doctor way back at that time telling my Mom that it may never heal right, and probably be arthritic in my later years. Well, I don't remember worrying that much about it back then, and for many years to come. Unfortunately his diagnosis has finally turned out to be right. Arthritis in my right knee sometimes flares up so badly that I go from a limp to using a cane. Medication helps a lot when it gets real bad, however I was told by my doctor that a compression strap such as this would also be helpful in the worst of times. Whether you shop at a drug store, (as I did) or look them over here on Amazon, you will quickly find that its easy to be overwhelmed by the choices in this area. Some knee supports are cheap enough looking to know they probably offer minimal support. Others are expensive enough, but the sheer variety and styles can be very confusing. I ended up buying this Saftgard open knee strap at a local drug store here after figuring it looked rugged enough to do some good, as well as being reasonably priced as well. As far as my experience with it, I have to say it has been VERY helpful and supportive when my arthritis suddenly takes a notion to give me a really bad day or two on occasion, and I still want to move about or do yard work. It is true that its size and stiffness allows for minimal movement as others here have mentioned. However if what you are seeking in a brace is strong support for ailing knees, (as opposed to workable support)this Saftgard model has proven to be very effective for me. Remember that this is a "compression" strap, as opposed to a "flex" support model, meaning it is designed for compressing sore or damaged knees, and thereby the stiff support only allowing limited movement for just getting through a painful period. If your a big guy, (or girl), and your legs are strong, this strap will do nicely for support while exercising, or even playing sports. However for the rest of us, I would best recommend this strap for individuals like myself that just want something to ease the pain while puttering around the house, or running errands. If your knees hurt bad enough to limit your movement in any event, or if you're an athlete presently laid up and taking it easy, I would highly recommend this Saftgard strap. It has been very effective for me in getting through the worst days of chronic pain...

This is an excellent kneepad, that performs as described by the manufacturer.
Being someone who just recently developed a mild knee problem or very light injury, i am not natively qualified to really commend this product. However i loaned it to my brother an avid basket baller who in addition to having a personal knee therapist has exhausted an extensive list of kneepads.
He immediately expressed his satisfaction of the "feel" even before actually playing in it. I haven't spoken to him since but the fact that is has not been returned speaks volumes to me... What about you ?

My knee feels very secure in this. Whenever I'm having some knee problems, I put this on and I feel much better going and exercising. The only problem is that I use it for soccer and the flexibility isn't great, but I guess that's just the trade-off for stability. Perhaps the combination of both is too much to ask for, but I thought I'd leave it at 4 stars just in case some such product exists.
