I had a problem with the Snow Floats I bought from Mountain Boy last winter (one stayed on with no problem, the other kept falling off), and they cheerfully replaced them with this year's model. They explained that by curling them in the box differently, they were able to stop the problem.
Snow Floats are perfect when you want to either 1) push your kicksled across pavement and patches of spotty snow, or 2) go on something that's less than hard-packed, like a snowmobile trail. Keep in mind that if your feet are sinking into the snow then it's still going to be work to push the kicksled forward.
Description of Mountain Boy Sledworks Kicksled Snow Floats
These 1-3/8" wide plastic runners snap onto the bottom of the single or double kicksled's steel runners. With the floats on, your kicksled will move quickly on groomed trails and in fresh snow.Designed to increase the versatility of a Mountain Boy Sledworks' kicksled, these 1-3/8-inch-wide plastic runners snap onto the steel runners of a Silverton Kicksled or Double Kicksled so the sled can glide quickly on groomed trails and in fresh snow. They're essential for dogsledding and are included in a Mountain Boy Sledworks Mushing Package, which is sold separately.
