Sports reviews of Moultrie Game Spy D-40 Megapixel Game CameraCustomer Review: Best bang for the buck Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have one of these and one Steath Cam. The Steath Cam is about 3x the price. I've had it for 3 months. The picture quality is only marginally better at best, the battery life stinks and my flash is toast already. You'll really appreciate battery life the first time you check on your camera expecting a wealth of excellent photos and all you have is a low battery light with no pictures.
My Moultrie is still cranking away a year later and the battery life is great. The picture quality is good, they're a little grainy. The camera will stop working below 20 F. Prior to owning a Steath Cam, I would have only rated this camera 3 out of 5 stars; however, bang for the buck, battery life, the pictures are definitely good enough to know what you've got, you can't go wrong with this guy for the money. I set the camera up to take 1 picture every 10 minutes, I replace batteries every couple of months. Replace them when the meter reads 35% or below. You can also have the camera add a label to you pictures, very important once you have a couple of these guys. Eventually you'll want to keep your eye on several places at once, spending good money (unless it's real good money) on one camera will only leave you wanting another.
BTW, I'm buying a second one to replace my broken Steath Cam that's only 3 months old.
