Customer Review: doesn't go straight easily

My 3 yr old is smart and picks up things easily, but I admit she's not super athletic yet. She cannot ride this scooter because it leans too easily and won't go straight unless her foot and the handlebar is balanced perfectly in the center. She can go about 5 feet before running into the grass and tipping over. She gets frustrated with I try to help. She can ride her friends standard 3 wheel (with the 2 wheels in the back) and standard steering. We got this one because in reading other reviews we thought it would be even easier and safer. I'm disappointed because it cost more, was a special gift (from santa), and seems much harder and frustrating for our daughter. She is also big for her age and will probably out grow it soon. I'm about to buy a cheaper 'standard' 3 wheel scooter. I don't normally write reviews, but our experience was so different from others, I thought I should. On the bright side, it is well made.

The Mini is the quality scooter for young children. The mini kick scooter won the Oppenheim Toy Gold and Platinum Award Seals 2009 and also was awarded 'Best Toy' by Learning Express Stores. Toy Report also called the mini that 'Best Toy for Pre-school Kids'. What makes the mini unique and fun is its 'lean-and-steer' design which allows children to use their body weight to control the steering, giving kids the feeling of 'surfing' the sidewalk, as they curve from right to left, almost like a skateboard, adding an element of fun and control that young children love. The Mini scooter is designed with 3 wheels for greater stability and control. The Italian-made highest-quality polyurethane wheels create a wonderfully smooth, quiet glide. The kickboard is low-to-the-ground and large enough for two feet, making it easy for young children to hop on and off and to switch from pushing -- to just enjoying the ride. The 'spoon' brake at the back adds additional control, and kids like it because its just like the 'big kid' scooters. For parents, the Mini scooter is light weight (only 3.3lbs), so it's easy to pick up and carry when need be. The Mini scooter makes scooting fun for young children at the same time as helping to develop their balance, co-ordination and motor skills. The Mini scooter is designed with a weight recommendation of 60lbs. Please note that the scooter displays a weight limit of 20kg (44 lbs). The reason for the discrepancy is that European standards dictate that weights are approved and displayed only in increments of 10 kg (22lbs), so the next available weight category of 30 kg, or 66 lbs, would have put the displayed recommended weight limit OVER its actual recommendation of 60 lbs. The design team at Micro-Mobility in Switzerland are always working to achieve ever-higher standards of excellence. They recently added a reinforced brake, stronger U-bar, and a new locking pin for easy handlebar removal.
