If you want the ability to control flame output this stove is "king of the road." The two valve system gives you complete micro control of the heat setting. This alone makes it worth the extra money. (I also have the simmerlite, which does everything great except simmer.) Works with regular gasoline so its cheap to operate and you don't have to mess with those bulky and expensive butane cartridges. Like all liquid fuel stoves it requires priming, but once its going it will burn for hours on a single liter bottle. I just came back from an 11 day trek at Philmont Scout Ranch and we burned the thing for nearly a week on one bottle of fuel. This stove also works great with the "backpacker oven" so you can bake all kinds of treats on your shorter outings. It is loud, though, quite loud - so be prepared to wake-up the whole camp when you make your coffee.
