This is my first snowshoe. I only tried it twice, once on a two hour hike up an intermediate ski trail. They worked great. Cinching up the straps took a minute, would have preferred buckles, but, read bad thinks about buckles.

And just like all Denali snowshoes, a modular design allows you to adapt your snowshoes to match the flotation demands of different pack loads and changing conditions.

Whether you're slogging up to the base of a climb or traversing where full traction is essential, the MSR Denali Evo snowshoes bring modular performance to your winter backcountry adventures. Based on MSR's proven Denali snowshoes, the Denali Evo shoes feature the same modular flotation, superior 360-degree traction, and Televator heel lifters as the original Denalis, but add a redesigned deck, bindings, and crampons to improve backcountry performance and usability. As a result, the shoes will instill confidence on the most challenging terrain. The Denali Evo's traction derives from the steel traction blades, saber teeth, crampons, and molded braking bars in the deck, which combine to produce an exceptional grip in both snow and ice. Comfort-wise, the shoes include Televator heel lifters, which reduce calf fatigue to make climbing easier and more efficient. And thanks to the Denali Evo's UniDeck--which is slightly tapered at the tail--walking is easier and more natural than with other shoes.

The snowshoes are also built to provide a secure fit, with mitten-friendly Evo bindings that stand up straight to allow easy entry and exit. Plus, the bindings expand to accommodate snowboard and ski boots. Advanced hikers should consider adding 6-inch Evo flotation tails (sold separately), which help you accommodate changing conditions and heavier packs. The Denali Evo snowshoe is recommended for people who weigh between 90 and 125 pounds. With the addition of the flotation tails, the shoe can hold up to 125 to 175 pounds.
