Klean Kanteen bottles are constructed from high quality sanitary grade 304 stainless steel which has a low nickel content, an excellent resistance to staining and rust, and will keep your beverages fresh, and sanitary. These reusable bottles are lightweight, easy to clean, durable, and will not react with acidic beverages. The single walled containers can be placed on an open flame or heating surface, but are not recommended as containers for boiling hot liquids as the Kanteen has limited insulating properties.

Durable, sanitary, and non-reactive stainless steel is the material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. The sanitary grade 304 stainless steel used in Klean Kanteen bottles also has a low nickel content, further reducing exposure to potentially irritating substances. Easy to clean, the Klean Kanteen water bottles can be put in the dishwasher, or washed by hand with a brush and mild soap.

Klean Kanteens come in sizes to meet the needs of the entire family. The 12 and 18-ounce containers are designed specifically for kids. In bottles designed for small hands, the 12 and 18 ounce bottles are available with sippy cup lid adapters along with the other sports cap options, and weigh just 6 and 8 ounces respectively. Adult sized 27 and 40 ounce Kanteens weigh just 8 and 11 ounces respectively, and are available with a choice polypropylene or steel caps. The openings are large enough to fit ice cubes, and the slim bottle design fits in most cup and bottle holders.

Klean Kanteen water bottles are available with a variety of sports caps made with non-leaching polypropylene #5 or stainless steel. The sport, flat, and loop caps are interchangeable and fit all 12-, 18-, 27-, and 40-ounce stainless steel bottles securely. The Poly Sports Cap has a push release valve allowing you to drink on the go. The Flat Caps, available in polypropylene or stainless steel twist on and off securely. The Loop Caps, available in polypropylene or stainless steel, twist on and off securely, and have a top loop for easy attachment. The polypropylene #5 caps have no known leaching characteristics, and are softer on the teeth and easy to drink from. However, if you would rather avoid plastic altogether, the stainless steel caps are a great option.

Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory.

Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame.

Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.

Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?
In a pinch, the Kanteen can be placed on fire or a stove. Beware not to melt the plastic lid or burn yourself.

I bought 2 of the 18 oz bottles to avoid drinking out of plastic bottles. I really do like this bottle. I think it is safe, very durable and also a good size. I also have 2 of the 12 oz stainless steel bottles with sippy cup adapters for my son. He loves them!

I purchased an 18oz flat top, after going through many water bottles. it is designed like a retro milk bottle. The BEST part is the lip. The mouth is wide enough to drink out of it like a glass of water and the lip feels just like that when you drink out of it. This makes drinking out of it very satisfying unlike any other fancy water bottles. Get it and you'll see.

I bought this for a couple of reasons. First because I always carry water with me and I get tired of buying plastic water bottles and then throwing them away after a little while. I also wanted something that could be reused countless times to cut down on disposing of plastic. And this product is great. Water tastes fresh and clean from it and it is so easy to clean.

Since we're divesting ourselves of all plastic food/drink containers, I researched different brands of water bottles, before settling on Kleen Kanteen's 18 oz. bottle, along w/ a steel loop cap, for my preschooler, who absolutely loves it. The cap can tighten quite a bit for leakproofing during travel, but we loosen it for preschool: our child can manage both cap and bottle easily.

We love the fact that this bottle is no-frills: no fancy finishes that'll wear off; easy to clean; reasonably priced. If you add a carabiner clip, it'll latch your bottle securely to a backpack. Highly recommended: our family's subsequently purchased two 27 oz bottles, and another 18 oz for the preschooler's milk, as we were very satisfied with our initial purchase. One minor minus, however: the bottles don't fit in a standard car beverage holder, but c'est la vie.
