Klean Kanteen bottles are constructed from high quality sanitary grade 304 stainless steel which has a low nickel content, an excellent resistance to staining and rust, and will keep your beverages fresh, and sanitary. These reusable bottles are lightweight, easy to clean, durable, and will not react with acidic beverages. The single walled containers can be placed on an open flame or heating surface, but are not recommended as containers for boiling hot liquids as the Kanteen has limited insulating properties.
Durable, sanitary, and non-reactive stainless steel is the material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. The sanitary grade 304 stainless steel used in Klean Kanteen bottles also has a low nickel content, further reducing exposure to potentially irritating substances. Easy to clean, the Klean Kanteen water bottles can be put in the dishwasher, or washed by hand with a brush and mild soap.
Klean Kanteens come in sizes to meet the needs of the entire family. The 12 and 18-ounce containers are designed specifically for kids. In bottles designed for small hands, the 12 and 18 ounce bottles are available with sippy cup lid adapters along with the other sports cap options, and weigh just 6 and 8 ounces respectively. Adult sized 27 and 40 ounce Kanteens weigh just 8 and 11 ounces respectively, and are available with a choice polypropylene or steel caps. The openings are large enough to fit ice cubes, and the slim bottle design fits in most cup and bottle holders.
Klean Kanteen water bottles are available with a variety of sports caps made with non-leaching polypropylene #5 or stainless steel. The sport, flat, and loop caps are interchangeable and fit all 12-, 18-, 27-, and 40-ounce stainless steel bottles securely. The Poly Sports Cap has a push release valve allowing you to drink on the go. The Flat Caps, available in polypropylene or stainless steel twist on and off securely. The Loop Caps, available in polypropylene or stainless steel, twist on and off securely, and have a top loop for easy attachment. The polypropylene #5 caps have no known leaching characteristics, and are softer on the teeth and easy to drink from. However, if you would rather avoid plastic altogether, the stainless steel caps are a great option.

Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory.
Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame.
Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?
In a pinch, the Kanteen can be placed on fire or a stove. Beware not to melt the plastic lid or burn yourself.

This water bottle looks and feels sleek. It keeps room temperature water cool and tasting perfectly clean for days. When you fill it with ice water, it keeps the water cool for hours. The loop on the cap is fun to hold when you carry it, or you can loop something through it to hang it on your pack. It fits in my car cup holder and permanent marker sticks to it if you want to put your name on it, which I recommend, as it is a popular bottle style. I bought these Klean Kanteens for my two sons, ages 11 and 13. They bring them to school, soccer practice, and soccer games. The large mouth takes a little getting used to drinking from, but that only takes a little while. The wide mouth lets them put ice in the water, and also makes it a bit easier to clean. They aren't too hard on the Kanteens, but my 11 year old is still a kid and occasionally throws his Kanteen around. So far, it's held up without any dents. We all feel good that we won't be generating anymore plastic recycle bottles, and I feel good that they won't be exposed to BPAs.Customer Review: Another great way to reduce your environmental footprint

I am so glad to see that reusable water bottles are starting to catch on, and Kleen Kanteen is one of the original creators of a BPA-free bottle.
Not only does the stainless steel help keep water cool, but it is also non-porous and does not absorb odors from other beverages you may choose to put in it. And while the steel can get dented from some heavy use, it is durable and can take quite a beating.
I love the poly loop cap on mine because I can hold my bottle with one finger if I want to keep it easily accessible. Also, the loop makes it easy to secure the bottle onto a backpacking backpack.
The wide mouth of the bottle makes cleaning the inside easy, but it does take a little bit of time to get used to drinking out of this wide opening. I still sometimes spill a bit of water on myself if I am not careful.
It is a good quality, durable product that does not leak. I would recommend Kleen Kantene products as a great alternative to wasteful plastic bottles. And if you enjoy bright colors, check out the fun shades that Kleen Kantene comes in!

This is a great water bottle. I decided to get one after reports about nalgenes and similar bottles leaching chemicals into the liquids. Can't they find this stuff out before selling millions of these to people? B.S. I own four plastic water bottles that I'm going to get rid of or use for something else.
Anyway - the mouth of these bottles are great. Big enough to get a good chug but not so big that you spill. Also - tops are interchangeable for all sizes. We also got one for our 1 year old. I've always loved stainless steel. It is one of the best materials out there. I only wish they could have been made here in the U.S. I'd pay a little more for that!!

Ordered two of these with poly loop caps and have been using them for over a month now. One leaked slightly when I first got it, but a tight twist and it was fine. I also purchased stainless steel loop caps and the sports tops. The poly loop cap that came with it was much quieter than the ss loop... and the sports cap was by far the easiest to use. All three caps are now totally leak free. The bottles and caps are easy to clean and water tastes great. I have not tried any other liquids in it. On the down side, they do dent if they are dropped hard. They also sweat a lot when they are first filled with cold water. I purchased a Built NY 20oz water bottle holder and it works great for the sweating. I recommend these water bottles to everyone!
