Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory.
Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame.
Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?
In a pinch, the Kanteen can be placed on fire or a stove. Beware not to melt the plastic lid or burn yourself.
What is stainless steel?
Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found on earth: iron ore, chromium, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen, and manganese. I love these kanteens for myself and my toddler. We take our water everywhere we go, just make sure to get an Avent sippy cup top and you're set to toss it in a bag and go without spilling. I highly recommend these!Customer Review: I love this bottle

The bottle is great and as long as you don't leave it in the car, the water is always a nice temperature for drinking. I got this size and the 27 oz and find myself using the 27 oz more often because it's smaller and easier to stow. I keep the 40 oz at my desk so i always have water at the office. The only shame is that it doesn't come with the Steel cap; I think that should be standard with a steel bottle - hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
As a side note, the bottle has never leaked out of either cap (which is something I read in a review prior to buying it).

This is a great product. I live in an area that has really good water so finding a way to carry it around safely beats lugging bottled water by a mile. This bottle is easy to clean and does not give off a metalic taste when used for tea or water, which I drink a lot of. The 27 ounce is a little large in diameter and about two inches too tall to fit in most cup holders, so if you want this for your car you may want to try a size down. I use it mostly for work. It works great as it holds just enough beverage to last me through the day and cleans easily.Customer Review: Perfect for little green people!

My 6 and 4 year old girls love these bottles! They are the perfect size and color. The stainless steel is safe for drinking and does not cause drinks to taste different. The only problems we have found are: 1) the caps are difficult to remove for little hands if they ate tightened as tight as they need to be in order to remain leak-free. 2) the color chips when dropped very little (not a huge deal except for very picky children who are also a bit clumsy!) 3) the outside of the container does get a bit of condensation but that is expected from stainless steel as it conducts temperature. All in all, we love these bottles for safe drinking as well as to help the environment. Children are never to young to start good green living habits!
