Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory.
Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame.
Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?
In a pinch, the Kanteen can be placed on fire or a stove. Beware not to melt the plastic lid or burn yourself.

I had bought this stainless steel water bottle as an alternative to the many disposable water bottles I had used before. Combined with a water filter system (I use Brita), it ends up being cleaner and cheaper than all the throw-away bottles.
I was deciding between a Sigg Aluminum water bottle vs this one, and I decided for this one because it's cheaper, and the aluminum sigg bottles tend to dent easily. I've dropped this one many times and it still looks fine. Also, the wide mouth bottle design makes putting ice in easy. Also, I have not noticed a metallic taste, but others have said that if you do, you get used to it soon.

This is a great product. The construction quality is great and it looks nice in color. However, if you're more of an outdoorsman, get the one without color so that you can put it above a flame. Also, the plastic cap is perfectly fine. Don't bother with the steel cap (I got one, but I regret it now) because 1) it looks ugly because of its wider diameter (looks like the 27oz bottle has a hat on) 2) the steel on steel action as I close the cap makes me feel like I could damage the bottle one day, and 3) I can't taste the difference between the steel and plastic caps.Customer Review: love it!

i love this bottle. i bought 2 1 27 oz and the other 18oz. the problem with the 27oz is it's too long to fit my purse, while 18oz is little to quench my thirst. but all in all it's perfect!Customer Review: Great Water Bottle
