Sports reviews of Klean Kanteen Sippy (12 oz with Adapter Cap)

Customer Review: I'll be switching to these!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I love this sippy! Not only can my son not drench the coach with it, it is actually easy to drink out of. The spout that comes with it is amazingly easy and the Avent Sports spout you can order (which will also fit the adapter) works even better. If I ever needed a completely leak proof top for my own Kanteen I would consider it LOL. The only liquid that can ever leak out is what remains in the spout above the gasket after the child quits drinking- minuscule. My toddler is not the least bit frustrated by this. I love knowing that not only is it BPA free, but also will not leach pthalates. I have noticed our beverages taste better out of these, I never realized how much 'plastic taste' gets transferred even from BPA free plastic. The sippy spout dissembles and reassembles very easily making it easy to clean. I actually switched from our last sippy bc I could never satisfactorily clean inside the straw etc. I have also noticed with all of our Klean Kanteens that they do not grow bacteria easily. Even if I give my son milk, rinse it out on the go and fill it with water, it does not readily get 'slimy'...you know what I mean;)

Customer Review: Why we chose the Kleen Kanteen over Sigg
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Since our decision came down to the Kleen Kanteen or a Sigg, I thought I'd outline WHY the Kleen Kanteen won out for us:

1) Stainless Steel vs. Aluminum. Yes, the aluminum is incrementally lighter in weight. We're not looking to trek the Andes with it and the difference isn't significant enough in a bottle this small to make a difference to us. However, more important to us, the stainless steel is not lined like the Sigg. Sigg does contend that the lining in their bottles is safe. But, there's no question to us that the Stainless Steel won't leach any nasties.

2) Dishwasher safe. Since ours will be used for little ones, potentially with milk, being able to sanitize them in the dishwasher was important to me. Sigg recommends hand-washing, and their narrow neck makes it tough to see if you've *really* got it cleaned out well, even when using one of their own (seperately sold) bottle brushes.

So, while the Siggs are 'prettier' (IMO), in this case safety took priority for us.

Customer Review: Best Stainless Steel Sippy Cup
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I love the Klean Kanteen! I tried the Sigg, the Foogo from thermos, and the Klean Kanteen. The Klean Kanteen is by far my favorite for my 1 and 3 year old, and the only one I did not return. It is lightweight, easy to clean, and it leaves the beverage smelling clean and tasting cool. I am not concerned about the plastic sippy spout because it is made in England, so I believe it when it says it is BPA-free. Also, when my kids outgrow the sippy spout, I can convert them to regular water bottles. That helps me justify spending 20 bucks on a sippy cup. The Sigg sippys are cute, but the opening is ridiculously small and you really do need their special brush to hand wash it and they are not dishwasher safe. The Foogos work fine but they have a noxious, chemically smell that was very strong. They are supposed to be BPA-free, but they are made in China, so who knows? Whatever the case, my kids' drinks would smell awful (chemically) after sitting in the Foogos for a couple of hours.

Customer Review: Best "less plastic" sippy
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I've tried the thermos sippys and they leak from all ends. Although the straw ones for older toddlers seem to be much better. I have also tried the safe sippy 2 by kidbasix (I think that is how they spell it) and I do love it except that the top smells. I have tried everything except harsh chemicals and I can not get the "dirty sponge" smell out of it. I love the Klean Kanteen sippy. It is extremely user friendly, easy to wash, minimum leakage and minimal plastic. I would love if they made a little 6oz for milk with dinner, that was one aspect that I liked about thermos, they make a 6oz. I would highly recommend Klean Kanteen to anyone.

Customer Review: the absolute best ever sippy cup....
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

These are the best sippy cups ever. They don't leak at all (well, except for the one time that my husband forgot to put one of the valves in). I bought a Sigg water bottle for each of my three kids after reading a review that complained of leakage with the Kleen Kanteen. But after cursing the Siggs' non-dishwasher-safe finish every day while I washed them, I decided to try the Kleen Kanteen, and I am so glad that I did. My kids love them, they are totally dishwasher friendly, and they don't leak even after a thousand trips through the beloved dishwasher. I will never buy any other sippy cup as long as I live!
