Excellent product with a few minor flaws. First, this is a great alternative to plastic cups and the longevity of the product makes the price worthwhile. After its life as a sippy cup, you can purchase a screw on cap and either an adult or a child will be able to use this bottle and continue its use. I purchased two bottles for my 1 yr old son (and a few larger bottles for the parents, so that my son could feel like he's drinking out of a bottle just like Mommy's and Daddy's). Overall, we've had a pretty successful experience with it.
The Drawbacks:
The main drawback was that the black ring cracked when my son dropped the bottle. However, Klean Kanteen, regardless of where you purchased the bottle, will replace parts free of charge (including free shipping) if something like that happens. The replacement ring cracked also when he dropped it another time. Klean Kanteen sent me TWO more rings and extra inserts and spouts, again at no charge to me. In addition, I had the replacement parts w/in days! So far, the replacement rings have not cracked at all, even when my son drops / throws the bottle to the floor.
The second drawback: when the bottle dropped, it dented, altho that dent is barely noticeable.
The great things about this bottle:
1. It does NOT leak for us at all! However, we are very certain to make sure all parts are tightly fitting together! If they are, no leaking!
2. You can use the white AVENT rings (that go around the baby bottles) and you can easily purchase more AVENT spouts (that come with AVENT sippy cups) and attach those to the bottle for extra caps/spouts. Event AVENT nipples work!
3. AVENT domes fit around the bottle! That's great if you want to protect the spout during travel.
4. You can purchase other Klean Kanteen accessories for this if you like: carrying case, etc
5. It's eco-friendly!
6. It has a life long after your child will outgrow his sippy cup needs. Either an adult or a child / teen could use this afterwards. All you need is a screw in cap which you could easily purchase locally or online.
7. The stainless steel used is food grade and will not impart taste to the liquid inside the bottle.
8. The colors are practically scratch resistant! You have to try VERY hard to scratch the coating off these bottles!
9. The color choices are beautiful! I get compliments on my son's bottles and my bottle all the time! We have blue and orange for my son, and blue and black for the parents. The colors are fabulous, glossy and stunning. The orange is not as bright as I had expected, but it's still very nice.
10. Great size for a child. Easy for my 13 month old to hold and drink out of.
11. My current rings have not cracked.
12. Excellent (5 STAR) customer service. I cannot say enough things about this company!
I highly recommend this product. It's not without flaws, but Klean Kanteen is so awesome to work with that I can forgive any mishaps!

I have always loved the idea of the Avent system, because of the interchangeable sippy spouts. My kid is a biter; the spouts of his sippy cups invariably get badly scratched up and therefore need to be replaced. With most sippies this means replacing the whole cup, which gets expensive! The Avent system eliminates this problem; however, their sippy cups leak like mad (the lids unscrew WAY too easily) and the bottles are made from nasty leaching plastic. The Via system is #5 plastic but too clunky and cumbersome to use as a sippy.
The Klean Kanteen is the perfect solution: safe stainless steel and the convenience of interchangeable Avent sippy spouts. I was beyond thrilled when I learned that it existed.
The adapter cap has two pieces: the part that screws into the bottle, and then a piece that is EXACTLY like the white screw ring from an Avent bottle (except that it's black, of course, and just a little bit bigger). This means three things:
1. ANY Avent sippy spout or nipple will fit in it. Both the white and the green spouts are meant for babies first learning to use a sippy cup; this is probably why many toddlers get frustrated trying to drink from the spout that comes with this bottle. There is a "toddler" spout available that is much easier to drink from.
2. It will leak if you over-tighten it. DON'T screw it as tight as it will go or it will leak.
3. The Avent dome caps fit. (I am surprised that nobody seems to have noticed this before!)
(It seems like the Avent handles should fit, but they don't, or at least I can't seem to get them on quite right - they cause pretty excessive leaking. It's a shame because that would make this cup absolutely perfect for younger toddlers. For my 2-year-old, though, it's just fine without handles.)
I plan on getting a neoprene cover for it to keep the contents cold (and because my son saw the one I have on MY Klean Kanteen and wants one for himself!) but other than that, this sippy is pretty much perfect. I love it!

I have 4 of these sippies and I find they are a wonderful investment.
With all the publicity about the leaching plastics I wanted an alternative to the plastic route, and the plastic ones we had were needing to be replaced after only a year, due to being dropped and cracking, or the area the valve fit into was cracked. I went looking for an alternative and found these. I started out with ordering 2 and now have 4 to rotate. The sippy spout that came with the first 2 was the Avent anti-spill soft spout and that seemed to work better than the hard Avent anti-spill spout on the 2nd set, My 2 year old initially didn't like the cold steel but the soda can cozies fit the bottles and work great.
I was having a hard time finding a bottle nipple my youngest would accept. From about 3 days old till 4 months he used the 5 oz Gerber Nuk Orthodontic bottle. After hearing the concerns about plastic, and him getting to where he was drinking 7oz at a time I needed to go up a size, but the slow flow nipples he was used to wouldn't fit, and the new ones were faster flow. I tried all sorts of nipples and bottles, when all of a sudden a light went on. The sippy 2 piece adaptor looked about the same size as his old 5oz bottles, sure enough the slow flow nipple fit in and works great. I just ordered some more Stainess steel bottles in the 18oz size for my 2 year old to work into and am going to look at these as a 20 year investment, they work for baby bottles, sippies, and down the road sports water bottles. :-)
They do leak a little if there is pressure in the cup through the vent hole, but it hasn't been enough to concern me, I think they are a great find.

I have several Klean Kanteens and you cannot go wrong with them. I loooove them. Both my older kids use them in a "sleeve" to take to school for their water. They get a bit dented by the way the kids use them, but they are sturdy and I have had the ones they are using for about 5 years now. Never had to replace a part of them. The sport spout whistles or 'chirps' a bit when you drink from it, but its just kinda what it does and no one minds.
I have 3 of these with the sippy lid for my 4 yr old and he loves them and I love them... soooo easy to use and to clean and it keeps milk cool longer. If you want cold to stay cold or hot to stay hot, get the insulated ones... my cold water will stay cold in the insulated one even if left in my car for hours on a 100+degree day. But it will keep hot stuff HOT so watch your tongue :). Klean Kanteen are great products. Love them all and can't get enough of them. My husband says I collect them :) ha ha. BUt they are all used daily so, ya, one of my most favorite products because they work well... water tastes like water, good for us, good for the environment. Can't go wrong with this product. Plus the company is a generous, community involved company and you can't beat a good company these days :)

My twins are just 14 months old and did not transition from bottle to sippy cup until after their first birthday. We started with Nuby's (BPA free, but leaky, but also cheap!) and we just transitioned to these yesterday and they do fantastically with them. My older kids use the same cup with the sports cap or with no cap as a drink container, so I know I'll get a lot of use out of these. For those who complain that the lid is plastic, I don't think you can completely get rid of plastic in a sippy. Even my glass bottles had the plastic screw on cap to hold the nipple. However, once you get your babies to graduate from the sippy lid, you can use the screw on cap which has no plastic in contact with the cup.
These cups definitely are expensive, but we went to the effort to drink out of glass bottles (which were cheap!), so I didn't want to backtrack back into the world of plastic. I like the idea that it is not just merely "safe" plastic which still burdens our environment, but is stainless steel. Plus, you can order extra caps, and all sorts of caps easily. We'll be using these a lot in the coming years, though I hope to transition them out of the sippy lids in a year.
