Customer Review: No Bad Taste or Smell; Goes EVERYWHERE!

I am a careful consumer. I begin reading reviews and doing my research far in advance of my actual purchase, whether the purchase be my Cadillac Escalade or my water bottle. I was concerned about some reviews that stated the Klean Kanteen bottles gave off a metallic taste and smell. So I decided to go ahead and purchase one as a test case.
Well, I love it, and now I have to get additional ones for my bike, my kids, and my husband. I don't go anywhere without my bottle. Yes, as noted on the tag, the sports cap is not leakproof, so I really need to invest in a screw-on lid so I can toss it into my briefbag and go. And yes, on a hot day, when the bottle is filled with ice water, the bottle sweats. It's second-grade earth science, people!
As for the taste or smell, I detect neither (other than the chlorine in our wonderful Cumberland Punch, as we Nashvillians call our tap water), and I only wash the bottle out about once a month - I just refill and go. My kids love my Klean Kanteen and look forward to getting their own.
I truly enjoy my Klean Kanteen water bottle and will be purchasing additional ones soon.

Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles
When my husband & I realized how many water bottles we were going through each week & no matter how many times we told the kids NOT to reuse their plastic water bottles, they still did, we decided to find a safe & environmentally friendly alternative. After some research, we went with Kleen Kanteen. The stainless steel is a safe alternative to polycarbonate (#7), and no matter how many times you refill them, they will never leach toxins like BPA. You can also use them for other drinks, like tea & juice, with no lingering odors & tastes left behind after washing.
They are an easy step to Going Green & staying healthy, while saving money at the same time. We're still using the ones we bought almost 2 years ago, but keep buying more for friends & family. If they do wear out, they are 100% recyclable!
Oh, fair labor/fair trade made too!

The bottle gets very cold or warm depending on the beverage. If that bothers you, I'd suggest getting a sleeve as other have.
The sports top is great, but it is a little difficult to get the water out and it will make an odd noise as air returns to the bottle while it is full.
When you take the cap off, the top opens as well so you don't have to touch the bottle top to open it (or close it if you use the cap). This seems like a much cleaner way of enjoying your water.
If you are going to use these on a bicycle with a bottle cage, note that the bottle will get scratched up if your cage is aluminum or any other type of metal.
The Logo and words on the bottle also scrape off easily. I wouldn't buy this if that is going to be a problem for you.
Water does not taste "metallic," even when left in the bottle over night in the fridge.

Some reviews said the water has a metallic taste. I have not noticed that but it might be because I have the sport cap so I don't put my mouth against the can. I have no problem getting the water out like I do with my neoprene bottles. I always had to partially unscrew the cap so I could suck the water out and then it would leak. With the kanteen I twist it ever so slightly and it comes out fine without leaking.
I've had it a few years now and it's still in great shape. One of the things that's great is that it doesn't get that funny smell that the plastic ones get. I would have to constantly wash those. My kantene has never had a funny smell and I've gone a couple weeks without washing it. In the summer it sweats but if it bothers you get one of those insulators. I'm going to get another one as soon as I have some extra money.

I ordered this stainless bottle for working out; the sport top makes it easy to drink out of while still on the move. The stainless helps keep the fluid cool. The 27-oz. size is tall and narrow; approximately 10-11" tall, by 2-1/2" wide. The sport top has a protective cover that helps keep dirt & grime off of the mouthpiece. I like this feature, but it snaps on so securely that it's difficult to remove it before drinking. The mouth of the bottle has a lip on it that prevents removal of the protective cover; you could probably cut through it if you really wanted it removed. The sport top screws on and off. So far, it has not leaked through the cap. Overall, I'm very happy with the bottle.
