Sports reviews of Kent Super ScooterCustomer Review: Inoperable Brakes Sport shop rating: 2 StarsThis scooter seemed sturdy, but we never had a chance to use it because try as hard as we did, we could not get the brake pads to make contact with the wheels. We tried every suggestion in the pamphlet. Also, at the end of the instructions it states "If you are unable to get the brakes to work take the scooter to a bike repair shop for professional repair." The consumer should not have to go to these lengths to get something to work properly (although Amazon was very professional about it and willing to pay for the repair). The kick stand is so not necessary. It's too small and the scooter falls over easily. I did not like the fact that the foot plate where the child stands is made of sub-standard plastic. I thought it would be metal. I returned this item for these reasons.
Customer Review: A lot of fun for my son Sport shop rating: 4 StarsMy son was not ready for his bicycle without training wheels so I bought him this scooter. He loves it and rides it almost every evening. His balance improved and with that his confidence. Soon he will try his bicycle again. It was money well spent.
I put on the wheels very quickly myself. I tried the handbreaks and didn't get them working properly. I decided to ask for professional help and brought it to my bicycle store. Some reviewers complained about the spokes and they checked that as well. This adds to the total cost, but he now has a scooter that is safe.
The only negative thing is the stand, which he hits often. He doesn't want me to remove it though so it must not be that bad. The kids in the neighbourhood like the bigger wheels better than the small wheels on their own scooters.
Customer Review: Great Idea! Sport shop rating: 5 StarsMY six year old nephew's birthday was approaching and he wanted a scooter. My wife and I were worried about these razor scooters we've seen. I didn't like the small tires, the easy way they flip and just the general size of the scooters, especially for a six year old. I searched, but only found the old red rider scooters, the ones from my childhood, which are definitely not "cool" by today's standards. Then I came upon the Kent Super Scooter. I liked the idea of the larger, knobby, air inflated wheels. The overall design of the scooter seemed much safer, and I thought it had that "cool" factor, so my nephew wouldn't be teased. It turned out to be a great idea. My nephew loves the sccoter. He goes riding with family and friends every day, which means he's outside in the sun and not playiang video games. It is built extremely well and rugged. It is adjustable, so it will grow with him. They only drawback was putting on the brakes. I needed a second pair of hands for that task. All in all it is a great idea and purchase.
Customer Review: Kent Super Scooter Sport shop rating: 4 StarsI like the solid build of this scooter and the big tires, which make it easier to navigate over rocks and cracks. The only downside is the size of the platform. With his big feet, he has only space for 1 foot where you stand. The other foot doesn't really have a place to go when he is coasting. With his old Razor type scooter, he could always rest his foot on the little fender that goes over the back wheel -- the brake. Other than that, he likes it a lot.
Customer Review: Super Says It All Sport shop rating: 5 StarsAs the name implies, this is really a "super" scooter. It is well built and even supports my 190 pounds when my granddaughter takes a break. Others have complained about the quality of the wheels, but they are no problem. The brakes are somewhat hard to adjust, but work well. The 12" wheels work well on the grass yard, and paved surfaces are not required. I have nothing but praise for the quality of this scooter. I bought it to help my granddauhter learn her balance and graduate to a bicycle, which she did in just a few weeks, but she still enjoys the scooter. I ordered and received a 2nd scooter for another child, so they can ride together. Does that indicate satisfaction for this product?...and for Amazon.com?
