I bought these microspikes when my several year old yaktrax wore out. These spikes are a superior product and I have used them all winter to walk and run with my dogs on snow, ice, and poorly shoveled/plowed streets. These aren't a perfect replacement for yaktrax, as I won't wear them on my dress shoes walking in Boston, but outdoors with boots or sneakers they are great. Easy to put on,easy to take off. Put them in your pocket. Forget about Yaktrax unless you are OK with broken springs. Kahtoolas are durable and they work like they should.You can walk on broken ground with them and the spikes hold up fine. Plus, I like the fashionable red color. Every gearhead hiker I know has these in their pack in the winter and wouldn't go anywhere without them. Mark these "Essential".Customer Review: Great traction on ice

These Microspikes provide excellent traction for walking on ice - I have used them for walking on frozen ponds/lakes and also for hiking on icy trails. They are not cheap but I hope they will hold up well and be useful for years to come.Customer Review: Best Crampons.

After slipped and hit the back of head on icy side walk while shoveling, I searched for cleats and found this one. Should have gotten it long long time ago in MN winter.
It's easy to put on and it feels great and safe walking on ice.
