Sports reviews of Ironman Gravity 1000 Inversion TableCustomer Review: Sweet relief! Easy assembly tips and a safety feature others have missed...... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is one of the best inversion tables I have seen and used. I have tried various models since the nineteen-eighties.
Older models required separate boots, which are an extraneous nuisance. Padded-ankle-holders built in to this design are much more convenient, especially with multiple users of different dimensions. These ankle-pads are quite secure and comfortable, even for a 200-pound 6-foot tall man. They also adjust without any tools. You simply pull on the spring-loaded handle to adjust, lock or release. The handle is large enough and positioned so that this is a comfortable operation that only takes a few seconds.
I received the order just one-day after placing it, which was especially appreciated because I was in pain. A minor mishap wrenched my back and left me hobbled for three days.
It's a curious catch-22: if you need the device for back-pain, you can't easily lift the box or bend over to lift and hold parts during assembly. So...
I got help from a 22-year-old nephew. We assembled it in 30 minutes... with almost no swearing! The instructions are decent; written in whole sentences with clearly-marked diagrams of the parts. They supply cheap tools for assembly, so you could get by without any extra tools. Though, I highly recommend a power screwdriver and a socket wrench. You'll need a half-inch socket ( Imperial measure) even though this is made in China here most measures are metric. This was obviously designed and spec'ed-out for Western customers.
Having the right tools would be even more important if you have to assemble the thing alone. With a helper to do the lifting and holding, and a handful of common household tools, it goes together fast.
>>>Of course this is anecdotal, not empirical evidence... and I am no doctor... however, the two times in my life that I had similar problems, inversion helped tremendously and instantly. In my case, it took only about 20 seconds to "pop" my back, back into place. I felt instantaneous relief!
The advantage of a table (over boots and a bar) is that you can approach inversion slowly. You won't need to go fully upside-down without control and caution. Also, a table allows you to smoothly come upright with equal ease and control. That is especially important for anyone who has not done this before and might have some trepidation.
This design is very sturdy: welded joints, heavy-duty locking-bolts with steel washers, large steel adjustment pins. I have seen carnival rides with smaller bolts!
They even provide a pre-tied string to the internal adjustment-spring so you can pull it through the pipe while assembling! If you have ever assembled things like this before, you will understand how infuriating it is when those details are missing. I was pleased to see they did not overlook that with this one.
The back-support is heavy-duty nylon, double stitched and pre-installed on the frame. That's great, because installing and stretching the back-support is the fussiest part of assembly. It can be removed for washing.
One design feature I now know is important: There are cloth guards at the top of the triangular base. (You can see them it in the picture--- one each on the left and right side.) At first I thought this was superfluous or only cosmetic. When my wife got on the device we realized that this is a safety feature!
Inexperienced users have a tendency to grasp the base at the apex of the triangle. They put hands INSIDE the frame instead of OUTSIDE where they are safer. One of the few dangers inversion tables present is the possibility of trapping appendages between the frame and the table as you tilt back or forward. These covers prevent that lamentable mistake.
I went ahead and installed those covers and will be sure any family member who uses this knows WHY they are there. They protect fingers, wrists and hands from injury, especially for a nervous novice.
Even if this had not helped my pain so much, I would recommend this model for anyone who wants an inversion table.
The price is reasonable for this level of quality. Amazon's shipping was VERY fast. In my particular case, back-relief came immediately, so I am doubly-delighted with this purchase!
Description of Ironman Gravity 1000 Inversion TableThe IronmanŽ Endurance 100 inversion table is built with a strong steel frame and scratch-resistant powder-coated finish. It has a soft, foam-covered backrest for comfort when inverting, and extra-long safety handles provide easy return to the upright position. Whether you want to reduce back stress or fatigue or stimulate your blood circulation, the Ironman Gravity 1000 inversion table makes a great household accessory. The inversion table contributes to your body's overall health by optimizing lumbar traction, thereby relieving pressure on your vertebrae discs and ligaments. And when your back starts to relax, the rest of your body follows. The table can also help with such areas as increasing body flexibility for improved athletic performance, reducing the effects of aging due to gravity, and relieving lower backaches due to sitting or standing. The Gravity 1000 boasts a durable tubular steel frame with a scratch-resistant powder-coated finish. The backrest, meanwhile, is made of a tough nylon material that's extremely durable yet still comfortable when the table is in use. Most importantly, the inversion system is a breeze to use: once you rest your body against the nylon backrest and slip your feet into the ergonomically molded ankle cushions, simply reach your arms over your head. As your arms go up, your body gradually inverts up to 90 degrees. The only inputs are your energy and gravity itself. Users will also appreciate the tough rubber non-skid floor stabilizers, which keep the table stable while you invert, and the extra-long safety handles, which provide an easy return to an upright position. Other details include a height-adjustable frame up to 6 feet 6 inches; support for up to 300 pounds; vinyl safety side covers to protect hands and fingers; and a durable spring-loaded ankle locking system. The Gravity 1000, which folds into a compact footprint for easy storage, measures 25 by 62 by 49 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 46 pounds.
