Sports reviews of Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout BarCustomer Review: Very useful Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I'd been looking for a pull-up bar for awhile but didn't trust the ones that wedge between the doorway, and didn't want one that needed holes drilled into my door frame.
Coming across this particular bar was a major convenience, given my current requirements for the item. The ability of it to create force in opposing directions in order to stay up worked tremendously. After carefully and slowly putting all my weight on the bar for the first time, I now have no doubts in this pull-up bar's effectiveness. It's also great to have three different types of pull-up's to perform on this one bar!
I guess on top of that, the bar also acts as a sit-up and push-up device as well. The dips aren't worth doing on this bar in my opinion, as the thing sits way too close to the floor to effectively perform the exercise. But the bar is primarily meant to be a means of doing pull-ups, and it fully delivers!
5/5!
Customer Review: Don't Hesitate and buy it Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I was at sports authority looking for a chin up bar because i'm starting P90x soon. I saw the IRON GYM on one of the shelves. I didn't know what to expect. It was only $30 so i said what the hell and did it. I got home and started assembling it and was very happy.
Its extremely easy. there are five parts and screws, nuts & bolts come with but trust me they're very easy to put in even with your fingers. a small wrench comes with to finish the job too. It also comes with a safety wedge to put on top of your door frame so the iron gym top goes on that and trust me it helps. I put the IRON GYM on the frame and was pleased with the results. It stays right there no worries or anything. The max weight is 300 pounds. I weigh about 140 so it wasn't really difficult. It also great for push ups and sit ups.
Go out and buy it now from your local retailer or amazon. Great Product at a great price.
Customer Review: Awesome product Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've never actually posted one of these product reviews before, but this thing is just so awesome I felt I had to share. I ordered the bar three weeks ago through iron gym and though it did take much longer than expected to arrive I am more than satisfied with my purchase.
I weigh about a buck-92 and three weeks ago I could do about five chin ups and one pull up if I was lucky. Going to the gym is great and all, but it's just awesome to have a bar to hang over your door. Now I can crank out about 15 chin ups and 6-7 pull ups.
If you're worried about sturdiness, believe me it's plenty strong. I don't really feel comfortable kipping with this bar, but I don't mind. I feel the lack of kipping capability has enabled me to more quickly progress because I'm forced to rely on strength alone. Simply put this is a great product at a great price and it does exactly what it advertises.
Customer Review: Good to go.... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Believe it or not, I had this type of in home pull-bar when I was a Marine Corps recruiter back in the mid 90's. (My wife purchased it for me.) It worked great then just as it does now. If you are heavier in build not to worry. I weigh in at a solid 250 and it supports my weight just fine. Make sure you tighten all of the screws with a real wrench and not the one that is supplied by the company if you want to ensure that the bar is stable. If you have low doors be prepared to fight gravity a little more too. That's not necessarily a bad thing...just makes you work harder. I would recommend this product along with the perfect push-up. Also, you can order the ab straps with the pull-up bar...I didn't have to pay any extra shipping but I read that someone else that commented on here did...just read the fine print first and know what you are getting and you won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Get's the job done... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've had the Iron Gym for about three weeks, and I've been using it most days since. I only use it for pull ups (none of the ground work) and for that, it get's the job done.
Observations:
- It fits over most of the doors in my house, and is surpisingly sturdy. There doesn't appear to be any damage on the frame at all.
- The design makes it very comfortaable to do five or six different pull-up variations.
- Its very study but lightwight, and slips off the door easily.
Limitations:
- It only fits doors of a certain size, so make your measurements before you commit.
- Unless you have ultra-tall doors or are very short, your knees will have to be bent for at the low point of the pull-ups.
Bottom line:
For the money, it's a great deal. A great addition to the at-home workout routine...
