Description of Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar

Iron Gym is the multi function training bar that combines every exercise you need to build a powerful upper body. Its the ultimate body sculpting and strength building tool that helps shape the upper body and tones your midsection. The durable steel construction holds up to 300 lbs. It is designed to fit residential doorways 24" to 32" wide with doorway trim or molding up to 3 ½ inches wide.
Strengthen your back, biceps, and other upper body muscles in the comfort of your living room or dorm with the Iron Gym workout bar. Designed to fit conveniently in most doorway frames or sit on the floor for pushups, dips, and sit-ups, the Iron Gym is an ideal choice for people who want to get fit without buying expensive, space-intensive weight sets. When installed in the doorway, the device lets you perform pull-ups and chin-ups, with three grip positions--narrow, neutral, and wide--for working the inner and outer back. Once you're done with your back workout, you can quickly move the Iron Gym to the floor, where you can perform pushups while facing down, tricep dips while facing the other way, or sit-ups using the Iron Gym for foot stability.

The Iron Gym--whose durable steel frame installs quickly without tools or fasteners--holds up to 300 pounds and is designed to fit residential doorways 24 to 32 inches wide, with doorway trim or molding up to 3.5 inches wide.

Customer Review: From a skeptic: You won't regret buying this...
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Ok, I was a total skeptic about the whole doorway pull-up bar thing. But this product is really awesome. I have a crappy old doorway and this bar still works perfectly. It doesn't put any pull down pressure on the door frame so don't worry about ripping your frame off. I wanted a cheap, at home pull-up bar system because, frankly, I was too embarrassed to attempt to do them at the gym in front of all the bro-brah's. And pull-ups are really one of the top 3 total upper body exercises you can do. I sucked at pull-ups and now, in just a couple of weeks with this thing, I'm up to 10. Also, your can't underestimate the convenience of doing pull-ups at home: between studying, reading, cooking, or while my coffee's brewing in the French press etc. This combined with Perfect Push-up is really all you need to get decently ripped (not jacked, but very strong and lean, particularly with respect to the lats/belly area). Shipping from the Amazon third party was without incident and it took maybe 5 minutes to assemble. All the tools you need are provided in the box. Have fun with it!

Customer Review: Works, affordable, and easy

I'm 265 lbs and 6'3" I have to bend my knees a bit, I already expected that. My point being it works I'm close to maxing out the weight there is almost no flex. It hasn't damaged any doors, although I have it permanently attached to my door. I've tried to shut my bathroom door while it's hanging there, so my own bad for any damage, lol. It also takes getting used to it, trust it and don't get discouraged by day four you'll get it. It's exercises are expected in this product, although there's a few more that were a bit of a surprise. I think the push up one was kind of ingenious, and I was skeptical before I got mine home, being as I was not sure how easy to put up and take down, turns out it's about the same as hanging a coat on a hook. Your own body weight type excercises are bar none (pun intended (groans)) for packing on upper body strength which is a "true" strength as they access both fast and slow twitch muscles if done right. That being said I can almost do two reps, could only hang a week ago, lol. For $30.00 it's a steal + free shipping.

Customer Review: Great For the Price

I bought the Iron-Gym for days that I couldn't quite make it to the gym because of my schedule, emergencies, etc. For less than 20 dollars, this is a very quick and efficient way to get a good workout for your upper body. While nothing really compares to going to the gym, I can easily do at least three types of push-ups (close, wide, on the curve), and two types of pull-ups. It's possible to do a variation of the triceps extension exercise, and you can do a host of other hanging exercises, provided you have enough door space. Shipping was prompt, and assembly was not difficult (pay attention to the screw sizes and which holes they go in; but it DOES come with an instruction manual). Storage is pretty easy, although most of the time I just leave my IG hanging on my door post, since the door I use usually stays open. Depending on the type of paint you have on your walls, you may have an issue with the black foam leaving some marks on the top of your door, but I'm pretty sure you can remove these marks with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or some soap and water.

Customer Review: Excellent product !

Now, I didnt get this from Amazon, but rather bought it from Walmart, but I liked this chin up bar so much that I had to put in a review for this. This is an excellent exercise bar, and very well suited for the P90X program. It is much cheaper to get this from Amazon or Walmart (both are much teh same price), rather than the 75$ or so that Beachbody charges.. !! The instructions arent very clear as to what bar goes where at first glance, but a few minutes of concentrated analysis and you will figure out teh assembly. I had my doubts about it holding up against a door frame. A small metal clip is provided that you are supposed to wedge into the doorframe on the other side of where the bar is. I was worried that my chin ups will pull the door frame off the wall, but a few chin up later, I realised that the clip is only holding the bar in place when I am NOT doing the chin-ups. When I am using it, my weight is not put on the clip, or on the door frame at all. Go for this, you wont regret it, esp. if you stick to your intention of using it !!! :D

Customer Review: Pleasantly surprised

Like most cheap exercise gear that is supposed to suspend your body I was a bit weary of the quality. This thing once assembled is quite sturdy. While going up and down during chin ups or pull ups there is no movement and the bar doesn't bend or give way at all. For the record I am only 160 lbs but unless your doorway is made of puddy you will be just fine.

One thing that should be cleared up is this device doesn't solely hang off the upper door frame and suspend you from it. All the upper part of the device does is create the leverage necessary to push the horizontal padded bar up against the left and right vertical wood of your door frame making 3 areas of contact with the frame, the upper and the two vertical areas of your door frame. This is what makes it so solid. Comparing it to my older chin up bar which elongates into installed brackets of your door way I would have to say not only is this more practical, as you can take it down whenever you want without tools, but it is also much more stable.
