Its the ultimate body sculpting and strength building tool that helps shape the upper body and tones your midsection. The durable steel construction holds up to 300 lbs. It is designed to fit residential doorways 24" to 32" wide with doorway trim or molding up to 3 ½ inches wide.

When installed in the doorway, the device lets you perform pull-ups and chin-ups, with three grip positions--narrow, neutral, and wide--for working the inner and outer back. Once you're done with your back workout, you can quickly move the Iron Gym to the floor, where you can perform pushups while facing down, tricep dips while facing the other way, or sit-ups using the Iron Gym for foot stability.

The Iron Gym--whose durable steel frame installs quickly without tools or fasteners--holds up to 300 pounds and is designed to fit residential doorways 24 to 32 inches wide, with doorway trim or molding up to 3.5 inches wide.

Sports reviews of Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar

Customer Review: Fabbed Extended Long Bar for Iron Gym - Works great!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This works like a charm.
I wanted to use this where I workout at also, and it was not wide enough for the doorways.
Tried finding the 'enclosed offer' for the extended long bar but it did not exist. Could not find on Internet either, so I modified it as follows:
Extended Long Bar modification.
Allows Iron Gym to be used in wider doorways!
Parts at Home Depot:
(2)Galvanized 1/2"x12" rigid conduit pipe = $3.31 x2
(2)Galvanized 1/2" Pipe Coupler = $1.33 x2
I have uploaded pics of this in the 'user uploaded images' for the iron gym.

That being said, the Iron Gym works great for me. I use this at home and at the fitness center. I like using at the fitness center because the doorways are wider and taller.

The Iron Gym easily attaches to the clips on my backpack and is light.

I also use 5lbs ankle weights (10lbs total) for added training (but not recommended if you are a beginner)

It is ok for sit-ups but seems to slip up on the door frame. I have to really concentrate on holding it with my feet. Therefore, I do not use it much for this purpose.

I do use it for the push-ups as I can get 'deeper' push ups.

Useless for dips. Commercial cracks me up showing the dips. Dips need to be full range of motion in near upright position which this cannot do.

For doing different pull-ups this is great. I have found that this is identical to the 'Creative Fitness Door Gym' in which they make little extension bars for wider doorways, but have read that the extensions are useless as they barely screw in to the ends of the bars. Actually got the idea for the mod from someone else, but improved on it somewhat.

Customer Review: Intelligent piece of equipment
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I am in love with this item. . . If you own it, you literally own the most compact and practical gym equipment ever.

When this arrived in the mail, it came in parts so you have to assemble it on your own. Most of the tools come with the kit so I was finished putting the Iron Gym together in no time. All that was necessary for me to prepare was a phillips screwdriver. That's it. Imagine if you had to move. . . It's also that easy to take apart.

At first I was actually afraid that it might break apart or that it would ruin my door frame when I used it, but I've had this thing a few months and I have had no problems with it whatsoever. It's a very simple construction, and usually that means that it's less prone to damage because of lack of any intricate parts, and this definitely holds true for the Iron Gym. 30 dollars for this thing? Totally worth it. It's also really nice of Amazon for making this available directly from them, too. I really never did trust those infomercial companies. You send them your address, you'll be getting mail-in ads for life.

The only drawback of this item of course is that a doorframe is usually not that high. The actual bar hangs around a foot from the top of my doorframe so I lose that much more distance from the ground. I'm only 5'6 but it's kind of awkward already when you have to bend your knees to prevent touching the ground during pull-ups on the Iron Gym, unless you're already well trained. I highly recommend measuring not only the width, but the height of your doorframe and comparing that with your height to see if the Iron Gym is for you. . . I'm sure many tall people will have a problem using it.

Customer Review: Works exactly as advertised
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I saw a commercial for the Iron Gym a few days ago. The Iron Gym is a pull up bar that wraps around your door frame and uses leverage, so there are no screws required.

It looked like an interesting product so I Googled it. You know, just to make sure that it wasn't a trap or something. I learned that it was actually a pretty good product.

Went out and picked one up at Academy for $30. Not expensive at all.

It works exactly as advertised. The commercial says you can also use it for push ups, sit ups, dips, etc... but come on. There's really no reason to take this out of your doorway. It's there primarily for pull ups. Doing dips on this thing is worthless, just get a chair - you'll get a better range of motion. The Iron Gym is there to serve as a sturdy horizontal bar - something that's actually hard to find in a house. The rubber grips make it very comfortable and enjoyable to work out with.

A lot of people are concerned about the safety. It's fine. It should be OK. Lol. It pushes horizontally against the door frame - it doesn't hang. It supports up to 300 pounds.

It's really easy to assemble, took me like 5 minutes. Only 4 screws. The Iron Gym is very fun; I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Glad I bought it. That's why I'm recommending it. Not gonna go too much into it, you can read the reviews online for yourself.

PS: I found a bunch at Academy, but apparently, they're sold everywhere. I think you can find them at Walgreens, CVS, Bed Bath & Beyond, Linens N Things, Walmart, Target, Sports Authority, Dick's Sporting Goods, GNC, etc...

Customer Review: For the money -- FANTASTIC!!!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I am not sure why there are reviews of the Iron Gym that are below a four. The IRON GYM is a great buy for the money. It does what it advertises and supports my 235lb. weight with no difficulties. Unlike others, I knew what I was paying for.

So, the one caveat I have with the Iron Gym is that it really does not offer a "wide" grip for taller/wider grip individuals like myself. The "wide" grip will be as wide as your door frame's opening width. But, this fact was obvious to me before I bought the product (just look at the photos). Nonetheless, the three variable grips offered (wide, inner and arched bar) are perfect and allow for a fantastic workout.

The quality is quite good and NO parts were missing. It is true that the AB Straps are "FREE" for $7.99 s/h with an included mail-in card. But, I did not buy this for the ab straps ... I can get more effective ab exercises with core and yoga mat routines.

PURCHASE TIP: Your local BED BATH & BEYOND and/or LINENS N' THINGS has the iron Gym in stock. They charge $29.95 + tax but NO SHIPPING (obviously, because it is in stock). They also offer an unconditional 60 Day no-questions asked return policy if you are disappointed by the product. You can frequently find 20% OFF or even $10 OFF any $30 purchase coupons on your local paper or mailings for each store. They each accept expired coupons and each others coupons (at least my local stores do). So, I purchased mine for $21.35, with no shipping charges or worries of return charges). Sometimes Amazon has the best deal. But, with this item, it pays to shop around!

Customer Review: Brilliant Solution and a Great Product
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Let me say first that this is a great product just for the fact that it solves the problem of getting a pull-up bar in your home. For a long time the only place I could get access to a pull-up bar was the gym. This product lets me get a portion of my workout done at home, making my life a little easier.

This product is easily assembled within 20 min (usually less) of opening the package. All the necessary tools you will need are included inside of the package, eliminating the need to find or borrow tools to put this together. The construction of the iron gym itself after assembly is very solid, and it feels like it should - ready to handle all of my body weight.

The only negative about the construction is how the pull-up bar itself is assembled. Instead of attaching the two pieces of the bar with a screw or some sort of fastener, the two pieces are fitted together and then rotated to lock. When assembling the product, this made me uneasy about how the final product would perform, but the assembled pull-up bar works great.

After assembling the product and using it for about two weeks strait, I can say that this product is great for anyone looking to be able to work out in the comfort of their own home. The product does what it is intended to do with great results. No marks have been made by the product on any of the doorways I have used it on, and stores easily under my bed after use. Definitely a great buy - I am even considering order the ab strap add-on's to increase the amount of exercises this product covers.
