Sports reviews of InStep Suburban Safari Double Jogging Stroller (Blue/Grey)Customer Review: Great stroller if it fit through doors... Great outdoor stroller, bad indoor stroller Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
Hi, I purchased my stroller brand new online about a year ago, it was easy to assemble and I popped my kids in it who were 21 months and 3 months at the time. I could adjust the seat belts easly once I got them through the wooden back (Threading the seatbelts was tough at first but once you do it you wear the groove enough to adjust as needed). My kids love the ride, very smooth and I love the locking swivil wheel for jogging or for romping around in unpaved areas like trails, or the park, or dirt bike tracks. Never has toppled over, or tried tipping, so it's balanced nicely. The visor is nice to keep the rain off, sucks for keeping the sun out of their eyes. I purchased a rain/wind shield so my kids don't get cold or wet, fits snug and does it's job.
Compacts nicely and I love the removable rear wheels to fit into snug places like the back of my 91' honda civic.
Overall I like this stroller, I just wish it fit through regular doors. I've been embarressed a few times because I can't use it as a normal stroller as well as an outdoor stroller. I go to walk into a store with it, and if they don't have the double doors, then I can't fit it inside and have to turn around. (Sucks!)
I wish it had a hand brake and a wrist lead so if it gets away while going down hill it won't go far. Also the roll bar in front would have been nicer if it had cup holders or tray for kids to snack while out and about.
I love this stroller for all my outdoor rugged uses. I hate it for shopping or indoor uses.
Customer Review: Double jogger Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I've used the stroller a few times with my 3 month old and 19 month old and the only real complaint I have is the sun visor. It's horrible!!! It's flimsy, blows back with the slightest breeze and is attached at the back so you get no coverage unless you're facing away from the sun! Aside from that, it's a good double jogger... Has great storage space underneath, the canvas parent tray is fine, it actually golds my iced coffee better than hard consoles because it's deep and the drink won't tip or slosh around. It also folds up really easily, which I love, but it isn't free standing once it's folded, you would have to lay it down or lean it against something, but that's not a put off for me. Overall, I'm happy with it... I wish instep would address the visor issue, but I think every double jogger has it's flaws so it's all about what's most important to you! One thing to note... I just use it for walking, and it's great on the beach!
Customer Review: in unfortunate accident Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I have a 9 month old and a two year old and we have been using our jogger for almost about 5 months. I noticed that something was creeking on the jogger as we were running the other day. All of a sudden the front wheel came flying off and the whole jogger flipped over as the wheel fell in a ditch. I am very careful with it but need to get it fixed. It was such a shame because my daughter split her chin open from falling on the concrete. I am not sure if we are just using it too much...but it has been great up until that day..Now the squeaking is still there and it needs to be looked at carefully to determine the problem. I have put the children in it but we have just been walking.
Customer Review: suburban safari "2" Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
The product that comes is the Suburban Safari 2, not the original. Therefore it does not have a plastic parent console with covered compartment, it has a crappy, useless, netted one. And it does not have a child cupholder as described. Otherwise it is sturdy and easy to put together, but it is not the stroller in the description.
Customer Review: could be better could be worse Sport shop rating: 2 Stars
I have really wanted a double jogger but couldn't justify spending a car payment for one. So, I was really excited when I found this one. I have a 3 year old who still loves to ride in the stroller and a 18 month old that I love to keep in a stroller! They were over the weight limit in the graco front/back seat stroller that we had so it was time to get something else. This seemed great, online it said 75 lbs per seat but once I got it the instructions said 50 per child. Not a big deal but would have liked correct information. I like it for the most part but was a little disappointed too...
PROS
easy to set up
easy to push/maniuever
roomy enough for a 3 year old who is tall for their age
huge basket underneath
not as heavy as i thought it would be
CONS
seats made out of cheap material
the seat backing appears to be particle board w/ barely any cushioning
parent tray is all netted cup holders, which stink for a coffee drinker!
no cup holders for the kids
Overall, its not bad, it serves its purpose. If I spent anymore for it I would have returned it. The kids love it and that is the most important thing I guess! Lets see how it withstands our 3 mile charity walk next month!
