Sports reviews of InStep Safari Swivel Double Jogging StrollerCustomer Review: Great Double Stroller! Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
I just got this stroller, it is much better than my 2 other tandem double strollers! It turns much easier, and also folds up nice and compact. Compact enough to fit in the trunk of my Neon! My twin boys love it and fit in it nicely, they like to be beside each other. I would recomend this stroller to anyone with two little kids!
Customer Review: Ok for the price. There are pro's and con's... Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I received my safari double jogging stroller this past week and have enjoyed using it so far, however, there are some points that should be addressed. My number one complaint is that the babies roll to the center. There is no support in the center of the seat backs and this causes the babies to roll to the center. I will also say that a really bad feature is the buckle system on the harness. The buckles will PINCH YOUR FINGERS! Be very careful when buckling the kids in. It got me twice, my mother, and my husband all the day after we got it, so it's not just me. It would really hurt if a child's skin were to accidentally get in there while fastening it. I had a huge bruise from it. There needs to be some adjustment from the factory on this! Of course the sunshade is horrible unless the sun is behind you, but I suppose an additional sunshade would remedy this. I did see a stroller in BRU that's shade moved like that of a infant carrier carseat. This would be awesome if InStep figured this out! Also, WHY IS THERE NO REAL CUP HOLDER? I mean, how hard is it to put a cup holder? Seriously... The little "parents console" is worthless except for keys or a cellphone. It will flip a water bottle or drink right out on the ground. The seats do recline nicley for infants, but they don't sit up all the way for older kids so there is always some recline to the seats. It pushes well in tall grass, trails, and gravel. I use it as my main stroller and have not had but one occasion to have a problem with a doorway being too narrow to fit, and it did fit, I just had to come at the doorway at an angle. It fits in my suburban fine with the wheels still attatched. It is no more bulky to handle than my double Graco duo glider was. With some minor adjustments from the company, they could really have a great stroller, but for the money, it's fine. I just can't pay $500 for a BOB.
Customer Review: an ok stroller.. if you are short Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
this stroller isn't horrible. when it arrived i wasn't extremely pleased but figured that for only $150 what could i expect? my husband and I were both unable to jog at a low speed without the stroller's front wheel locked. The wheel would shake badly. So we just kept it locked all the time. Not a big deal. I bought a kiddopotamous sunshade that worked wonderfully. (although covers the window to see the kiddos, which is a little disappointing) The parent console is not functional though, even with water bottles the bag will rock enough that the bottle falls out. The fabric and overall feel of this stroller is kinda cheap. But these weren't dealbreakers for me. However, this stroller's handlebar is VERY LOW. I am not even that tall.. 5'6" and it only comes up to my hips. my husband is 6'5".. this just wasn't comfortable for him and ultimately it was the dealbreaker for us. I sold it and got a double expedition from baby trend. For only $30 more the expedition has proved to be a much better choice for us.
pros:
- price
- smooth ride when swivel is locked
- individually adjustable recline of seats
- single hand collapse
cons:
- overall cheap feel (fabric, lack of padding, lack of pockets)
- no parent console (soft bag given is not very functional)
- handlebar height is very low and not adjustable
- sun shade is minimally functional at best
Customer Review: Many Differences From the Single Model Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I'm sure a lot of my feedback is because I did not do enough research, but I was surprised how different the double stroller was from the single stroller of the same make/model. A friend has the single stroller and I really liked it so I thought the double would be perfect. The main difference is that the push bar is not adjustable. As a tall person, the fixed far is a bit low. Also, there is no parent tray, but this really goofy bag that you snap to the handle and it dangles off. There is also no type of child tray, just a bar (to keep them in I guess). I am using this for my one year old and three year old and I thought the bar may be an issue for the three year old to get in and out, but she can climb over the bar with no problems. It is great that the seats are adjustable, but you adjust them with this bungy type thing on the back of the seat, and it is not possible to get them completely upright. With all that said, the swivel front wheel keeps me from returning it. I had a BOB with a fixed wheel and would never get another fixed wheel jogger (and don't want to pay BOB prices for their double, swivel wheel model). It also rolls really nicely, easy to push and seems to give the girls a smooth ride.
Customer Review: Not for tall parents... Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
After hours upon hours of research I ordered this stroller. The box arrived with quite a bit of damage and one of the plastic stroller parts was broken. Additionally, the nap bar needed to be adjusted and tires needed to be inflated. Customer service was helpful, though, contrary to other reviewers' experiences. After putting it all together and taking it for a quick test drive - there's absolutely no way I could walk or run with this thing. I'm 5'10" and my husband is 6'2". Just so uncomfortable. The handle is so low...much lower than even my Graco duoglide tandem stroller. There are no other InStep strollers with an adjustable handlebar so I had to order a Schwinn. For parents not as tall - this is an excellent purchase even with the minor headaches of broken pieces and deflated tires. (I had to go buy a tire pump!)
